Actually, no, he's still tinkering. X) It's just that his lover Nero (by VanillasauceArt ) is a fancy Nightbird. Who enjoys a ball or two at times. And you cannot decline the invitation to participate in the eclipse ball if your handsome man asks you to join. Even though Eugene, as a member of the flightless family, doesn't really know what to do with all the nightbirds... and he sure as hell doesn't know how to dance properly

Thankfully Nero does have pity on him and waits until everyone is watching the full solar eclipse in awe to sneak out into the garden with him to have a private dance
