Description
Another view.Work in Progress - An interpretation of next generation of the O'Neill Island 3 Cylinder, this being Island 4. Consisting of 8 cylinders rotating on 4 axes tied to a common ring anchored to a smaller asteroid. Each cylinder is approximately 5 miles (8.0km) in diameter and 20 miles (32km) long, similar to the Island 3 cylinders.
In lieu of mirrors, each cylinder is banked by an array of screens, similar to photovoltaic panels, performing the job of generating electricity from sunlight, shielding the cylinders from radiation and redirecting/filtering sunlight, regardless of the position of the sun in relation to the cylinder windows.
Created primarily Cinema4D
