Now that is has cooled off some they are just mooching off the feeders, but the chipmunks are still around.

They are far more nervous, but they do lounge in the seed bowl if it is empty. Not flat out, but sort of like a dog laying down. If they hear or sense 'something", they are able to shoot right into the bushes and disappear in the ivy. They have little burrows there for just such a thing and most of their predators do not come that close to the house. The baby rabbits hide there as well, since nothing is brave enough to get close to where the humans live.
