Description I was cleaning my room earlier...and I came across this map that I drew for a campaign over a year ago. The idea was that the PCs in this particular adventure were searching for the location of the Bombos Medallion (the only one of the three that the party has not yet found). Unfortunately, they had no idea where it might be, so they had to fall back on the captain of the airship on which they were relying for transport, and his contacts, located at or near the locations numbers to the right of the map.

The locales surrounding "Dark Hyrule Field" are drawn from A Link to the Past, but their corresponding locations are more influenced by Twilight Princess (the proper GCN map...not the Wii one). The areas around it are mostly my own ideas, brought about as a result of my own ideas of what surrounds Hyrule in the overworld. The "Storm Marsh" is the location of Misery Mire, the "Frozen Lake" is the location of the Ice Palace, the "Hidden Hills" contain the "Hidden Hedge Maze" that conceals the Palace of Darkness, and that range of mountains? That's where Turtle Rock, and Ganon's Tower would be. Down on the southern end are what I've identified as the "Fairies' Woods", but this map is from well before ALttP, so whatever killed all those massive creatures that litter skull woods in the original game hasn't happened yet.

To the west, Subrosia from Oracle of Seasons, which I have always maintained as the "Dark World" equivalent of Holodrum. To the northeast of that are the ashen wastes, a lowland desert of ash between the range of volcanos that surround Subrosia, and the burning woods, a massive forest that is not entirely unlike the "Fire Swamp" from one Princess Bride...though perhaps a bit more firey.

To the northeast, we have the salt flats, which are...well...exactly what they sound like. I felt like there should be salt flats. So sue me.

To the far east (the dark world counterpart to Eastern Hyrule, from Adventure of Link), we have a few islands. The small unlabeled island is the counterpart to the island that featured the Island Palace. The large island on the other side of that contains the "Howling Valley", which counterparts the valley in which Nabooru village appeared, so-named because it is a haunted land, filled with the "howling spirits" of soldiers of a long-forgotten war. South of there is Kasuto town...which I named after Old Kasuto town in AoL...but I can't remember why......hmm...

The last island is the Frozen Isle...which is pretty self explanatory. It's the counterpart to the island that featured the Labyrinth Palace in AoL.

...are you still reading? Do you even care? Who knows...

Either way, I thought it was cool. Hope you enjoyed this brief glimpse into the campaign that's been keeping me from finishing any "Biology of" projects lately.

Zelda and Hyrule and Subrosia and Kasuto Town...and probably a few other things I mentioned here belong to Nintendo...but the rest is the result of my own perverse machinations.

The aesthetic was definitely inspired by Tolkien's mapsβ€”they're extremely iconic, and they've influenced fantasy maps for decades...

Thanks for noticing!

You are very welcome. Tolkien is one of my favorite authors.

Pretty neat map. I like the triforce-patterned compass motif. You sure did put a ton of thought into this.

This is cool, something about maps in general is cool. It would be good to see this closer up and in more detail, some good stuff.
