sad thing is that you don't normally find 0.3 lead pencils at a regular retail store.....

what leads do u use for the 0.5mm and for 0.3 mm mechanical pencil?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

thatbrownboy In reply to emokittynya [2011-10-12 23:13:26 +0000 UTC]

obviously not .5 mm lead and .3 mm lead. that would be wrong to use them for a .5 mm and .3 mm pencil.

I use 0.5 mm and 0.7 mm mechanical pencils. Then I use my old wooden pencil pack (4F-6B) to add in the shades.

What is a sweep?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

xIceLolitax In reply to Ayame-Alpha [2011-09-03 18:57:52 +0000 UTC]

It's a sort of brush you use to sweep eraser dust off a drawing without smudging the lead or ink.

DarkLuigi-1 [2010-12-04 03:11:16 +0000 UTC]

I should buy the Mechanical Pencil's and Pen Style Eraser. I hate the sharpener I have, and the eraser can create pencil smugs.

dove789789 [2010-11-17 19:23:46 +0000 UTC]

i believe its all about the pencil user. personally i only use a .5 mechanical pencil because i can make it do whatever i need it to do.

What do you use to shade in stuff like skin? I know you shade the hair with lines, but I noticed that on some of your works that you use a grayish color to shade. What tool did you use or did you do that on GIMP?

Where can you get a pen-style eraser?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Hank88 In reply to kinimoto7 [2010-10-21 16:57:18 +0000 UTC]

He just manipulates the brightness or clean some parts or the picture using GIMP or Photoshop

Can you explain how you use all these tools (in English) please?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 0

Cheamore [2010-06-07 16:41:09 +0000 UTC]

Similiar to my tools (I don't have only that cool eraser, I use a classical one), but I use only a 0.5 mechanical pencil (sometimes a 0.7). I wonder, which paper do you use most? Rough or smooth? (I usually use smooth for coloured drawings, but for b&w I feel better with rough paper)

Makjo In reply to LeonLeonhart [2010-08-08 23:08:41 +0000 UTC]

(sorry for the late reply to your comment)
you use it to brush off the eraser shavings without smudging the picture. You can use nearly anything. in example, I just use a thick watercolour brush I got for a dollar.

I use the the mechanical pencil and the normal pencil but I have a question. Sorry for the ignorance, Im not sure if Im correct. Why the sweep?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

LigerNekoka In reply to ElKaosdeGaia [2010-05-17 07:25:29 +0000 UTC]

If you haven't been told/figured it out yet, the sweep is to brush away eraser shavings. Doing so with hands usually smudges the drawing.

whats the difference of use between mechanical pencil 0.5 and 0.3 pls. give your reply in my profile

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

frasian In reply to sokihio [2010-05-27 00:11:33 +0000 UTC]

I'm not sure if I'm fit to answer you question since I'm not gofu herself/himself, nor am I a pro artist but my guess is that the 0.3 mechanical pencil is used for very small/fine lines and details, while the 0.5 mechanical pencil is used for outlines and shading.
(....and if gofu already answered you then sry x_x you can just delete this reply)
