The last known member of a now extinct race of sentient machines. When the Subspace Army rose, this machine was named the leader of his people. Initially complicit with Tabuu's plans, he eventually revolted after having enough of sacrificing his brothers. Now surrounded by a new family, he will not let any other higher power take them away from him.

R.O.B. is a robot used by Nintendo to help push the NES after the video game crash of 1983 which led to the unpopularity of home consoles. This toy came with the NES and was compatible with two games. It's safe to say that without R.O.B., the NES might not have been the big hit that it was, leading to the gigantic gaming boom of the mid to late 80's.

R.O.B. is Fighter #42 debuting in Super Smash Bros. Brawl as one of the unlockable characters and a key character in the Subspace Emissary story mode.
