* Brave and brash, Rainbow Dash has always lived her life with dreams of flying adventure. Her ultimate goal is to one day join the famous Wonder-Bolts, Equestria's beloved National Defense Team, and to that end she has trained her body and sharpened her senses to one day prove herself worthy.

* The roofs of Ponyville provide her a frequent practice ground, running and jumping and always striving to keep up the pace without missing a step.

* Her ferocious focus is both a great strength and a terrible weakness. It can drive her to push beyond her limits and endure extreme adversity, but it can also cause her to lose sight of the feelings and needs of others if they do not fall in with her goals.

* Prior to the formation of the Pony Rangers, Fluttershy was the only citizen of Ponyville with whom Rainbow had any kind of relationship, and even then it was only ever the mildest of friendships. This made her initial transition into a Team setting difficult; in particular, her wild, break-through-at-all-costs attitude clashes with the more conservative, defensive mentality of Applejack.

* Rainbow moved to Ponyville shortly after graduating from Cloudsdale's Junior Flyers Academy, in order to escape from a battered and bruised friendship she shared with fellow Academy student Gilda Griffin. The two were thick as thieves during childhood, but as time went on, Rainbow found Gilda's increasing bitterness was driving her to greater and greater acts of cruelty and lashing out; fearing what might happen if she stayed on that path, Rainbow chose to sever the relationship quickly and, she could only hope, painlessly; it is a decision she often regrets....

* Upon arriving in Ponyville, another young woman who had recently moved from Cloudsdale, Fluttershy, offered Rainbow a young tortoise as a Welcoming Present. Rainbow reluctantly accepted, not wanting to hurt Fluttershy's feelings but worrying that a slow pet would only serve to distract her. In many ways, however, Tank has become Rainbow's confidant; whenever she is too stressed or frustrated, she often vents to the tortoise to help soothe her mind.
