Okay, Okay. *makes superhero noise* I'm here to save the Saddlebred name! Saddlebreds are definitely noodles, but it's more people that make them that way than themselves. Show horses are almost constantly stalled. Could you imagine being that size and only being able to walk in circles all day except for when your handler worked you, which is usually not long? Plus, Saddlebreds are bred to be high strung and silly. I show horses, Saddlebreds included, and it's really not that bad. It just depends on the indivdual horse, as with all breeds. We also own seven saddlebreds, and most of them are pastured, and they make great horses for fun riding. It just depends on how the horse was raised, how it is kept, and it's individual personality.
Beautiful Picture though!

Agreed from start to finish. The way a lot of saddlebreds are treated makes me insane.

Oh, Saddlebreds. I've never really met one that wasn't sort of on crack unless it was crossed with something else (think the Saddlebred x Draft crossing that results in the Georgian Grande) or on up there in age. I think this picture really captures that roaring inferno that is a spirited Saddlebred, always ready to combust at any given moment, particularly with the tiny sliver of white that's rimming his already hardened, anxious eye.

Georgian Grande is Saddlebred x Friesian.
However... I would beg to differ... There is a lady who runs a "breeding program" (hahahaha NOT FUNNY) that makes Saddlebreds x Percherons, and Saddlebreds x ponies/QHs to a lesser extent; they are WICKED. It doesn't help of course that they're (in my humble opinion) ugly (to the point of, with the better ones, an ugly-cute ;3) and she doesn't send them to my barn for training until they're, oh... 3 to 5 years old... Without. Ever. Having. Been. Socialized. They're huge too at that point. The lack of socialization is part of it, for sure, I'll admit.
Oh, there have been a few that were OK... but I wouldn't push my luck with them.
Haha that's just my silly rant about Saddlebreds in general... Not to mention, I hate hate hate what they do to them. Breaking tails, close-trimming, and scaring them half to death all the time.

The Georgian Grande breed registry accepts Saddlebred x Draft of any breed. The breed standards are found here: [link]

You did a fine job with the photography in capturing the horse's feelings here. Since he's traveling with both an overcheck and a martingale, and what may also be a twisted snaffle bit, perhaps he's still a bit green.
I saw a Saddlebred run off in a driving class once immediately following the class line up. Unfortunately, the driver bailed out leaving the horse to run completely out of control around the ring. I felt sorry for the other horses and drivers standing in the center of the ring who could only pray that the runaway horse stayed on the rail while he proceeded to kick the cart to pieces. Fortunately, no one was hurt. But the fairgrounds did change the rules that all driven equines had to have a separate attendant stand at the head of each horse during the line up since this is the time when the horses have nothing to do but stand there worrying about all the scary things going on around them. It's good to see that your photo also shows the hands of an attendant holding the bit and shaft.

Poor horse, looks real nervous... But great photo!
Have to say that this picture also shows one of the bad sides about horse competitions... many horses get so nervous and stressed and it's sad to see as a horse-loving person. :/

The saddlebreds are SUPPOSED to look stressed out. It makes them look "pretty". Another reason I'm not a fan of saddlebred shows.

Wow is he ever strung out - if he were a Standardbred I would say he needs a drug test.
Beautiful horse though, lovely tack and a lovely photo of the energy of the horse and event!
