Description
This has been a long time coming; much longer than my intention to join Sailor Moon Village, actually. I've been working on this character for the past 6 months, and she's had a long design process... I'm quite proud of her.

Here are her Stats:

Senshi Name: Sailor Mariner
Civilian Name: Freydis Carina
Level: Basic
Species: homo carinae
Gender: female
Birthday 31 May
Age: 19 (in human appearance; in fact she is immortal)
Height: 1,65 m (I use the metric system so dunno what that is in feet 'n inches)
Special Abilities: "nautic orientation" - She always finds her way back to a destination once she has been there. (This does not apply to her home system)

Backstory:
Sailor Mariner is the senshi of seafaring and navigation. She is the patron of the star Eta Carniae, a hypergiant in the constellation Carina. Carina is latin for the keel of a ship. (It formed, together with the constellations Puppis and Vela, the constellation Argo Nautis, until they were divided.)
Freydis' people lived on a secluded planet circling the blue star Eta Carinae. It consisted to 90% of water/ocean, so the population lived mainly both on sea-vessels and airships.

Many years ago, a great evil destroyed Freydis' home planet and set Eta Carinae on a path of self-destruction. The star became unstable. Sailor Mariner fought the great evil and was close to vanquishing it, but was overpowered and sent into the depths of the universe. Fearing that Sailor Mariner might threaten it again, the great evil erased Freydis' memory of the location of her home planet and Eta Carinae. She still knows what they look like, but must navigate the vastness of the milky way in order to find her way home. She is guided by the blue light which Eta Carinae emanates for short periods of time every 20 years.

Sailor Mariner must hurry to find back home, because Eta Carinae is in great danger of becoming a supernova, and after that a black hole.

Henshin Item: Star-shaped mark on her chest
Henshin Description: She touches the mark and is enveloped by waves. When she emerges, she is transformed.

Weapon Description: An Anchor on a chain. She summons it by touching the anchor mark on her left upper arm. She can fling the anchor, swing and cut as well as bludgeon.

Attack Names and Description:
"Whistle up a Storm": She begins to whistle a sweet and sorrowful melody. Wind rises up around her and a storm breaks loose, with wind, rain or hail, and lightning and thunder.

Guardian Name and Description: An Albatross - his name is Coleridge. They are said to carry the souls of dead seamen. They bring good fortune.

Other Information: During her travels throughout the universe, Freydis had accumulated many talents and possessions, such as some of her other marks. The mermaid tattoo on her right leg turns her legs into a fishtail and lets her breathe under water. This is not a special ability, and not an attack either. She mainly uses it in her freetime. The mark on her right arm is the likeness of her home planet and star. As mentioned before, she knows what they look like, but not where they are located.

I thought I'd add a little about her Personality:
Freydis is an old soul, and has seen and travelled many worlds. She has an open mind and likes meeting new people. She is a very approachable person who will always help someone if they are lost or assist them in any other way. If she isn't wearing her fuku, she runs around in a sweater and shorts rather than a skirt or dress, in which she never feels as comfortable. (In my mind, I can totally see her in old-fashioned explorer clothes, even though that doesn't really fit, but when she arrives somewhere new, you can often see her making notes about the planet, the animals, plants and the people in her notebook.) Although she spends a lot of time alone on her travels, she likes company. (Besides her trustworthy Coleridge, who is always good for a conversation, but sometimes gets a little condescending...)

So, it took me frickin' 2 WEEKS!!! to finish this whole thing... I am so slow, and out of practice... but that's why I am so proud of it, it turned out well I think.

Sailor Mariner probs won't be a contestant in the SMV tournament, just won't have the time to draw comics that regularly... but she'll be a spectator and friend to anyone who asks!

Copic Markers, Promarkers and ShinHan Touch Markers, on Marker Paper
Adobe Photoshop 6 (that pesky wand wouldn't work, so I had to cut everything out by hand T.T)
Adobe Illustrator 6 (for the arrows and descriptions, and that AMAZING Planet symbol)
