Description
miscellaneous devi-woman with four arms dancing in an anonymous space. DEAL with it.done for an assignment on idealistic anatomy. I chose the proportions and stylization of Indian sculpture and painting and rendered it in my own way. Photoshop 7/CS, pencil drawn and digitally colored. Man, I just got a lot of color loss from that compression.

Not "devil", "Devi". "Devi" is Feminine Sanskrit word for Goddess, rooted in the Masculine "Deva", which hypothetically originates with the Proto-Indo European "deiwos", meaning "Shining One."

gotcha, should have noted your name better. That said, the gods of one religon are oft taken to be the devils of another. In this case.. the dancing devi could inspire 'devilish thoughts'... in some?

I have a small critique... being an Indian myself and having seen a lot of sculptures and potraits of Devi's performing dance... this looks more like she's running off somewhere albeit quite stylized.
You have to realize that Indian dance very rarely has a "leaping" motion if you know what I mean... and this looks like she's leaped a step.

the way her legs are posed makes me think of like ice skaters that are about to do a twirly thing in the air. the details in coloring and the entired drawing (especially the hair) are exquisite. i love it.

indeed a misc devi goddness, though she looks a little of a Thai goddness and also more of a Kali Ma resemblence...but I think the jewelleries were well done. She seems like shes running to make some dancing-killing mode.

I love. It's very nicely coloured, even if there is colour loss. The attention to detail is fantastic, and the jewellery is great. I would say that the face disturbs me. It's a bit too western i think. In your drifting phoenix picture the face was perfect for the culture, and it's soemthign to bear in mind when doing culture pieces. Otherwise spot-on

The colour is comletely different in the preview, unfortunately. But it still caught my eye!
Full view, it looks amazing.
The way youve coloured it has given her a great skin texture., and I love the blue undertones. And as much as I love all of it, the background really appeals to me... dont know why...
