look them in the eye when i lie to them?
hide everything they already suspect?
yell at her when I know she's so weak?
write such horrible things about the very person who has the misfortune of sharing my own blood?
cover up the bruises and cuts?
tell them I was taking the metro to my friend's house when I really was checking myself into the hospital?
look at the very tool that gives me both pain and relief?
walk by his house everyday knowing I'll never see him again?
slip out of the house in the dead of the night knowing I could be killed any second...knowing that that's why?
remember?
The pain is gone. Not completely, but for the most part it's gone. Well, maybe not. Maybe you just get numb after a while. You get so overwhelmed that you can't feel anything. I should be happy, but it's the kind of pain I live for. The kind that makes me forget about everything else.

Eventually we just go numb. We get so used to pain that we don't notice it anymore. Deep down, it still hurts. But you don't notice because it's always been there. It's like a drug. Eventually, the amount you started with just isn't enough anymore. So you increase the dosage untill you feel it. Thats when you're addicted, dependent. But by then you can't stop...
