I'm dreaming, I swearAs he comes to me by night
Whispers his story in my ear
A ghost, is he? A spirit?
Nay, a new character
He is a man
A transman
Named Damian
He is a security guard
He is a man in love
A formal man, a southern man
Who says "yes sir" and "no ma'am"
And tips his hat when he says hello and good bye
He is a man
He is brave and he is strong
He takes a bullet to save his girl
He whispers his story into my ear at four am
and so i must write it down
bullet proof vests and weaponry
and working with a body that doesn't fit
Hiding, always, the truth, he must
No one knows but his love
Not even his sister
He smiles in the soft sunlight
When his girl touches his hand
Briefly, breaking decorum
So inappropriate and yet so perfect
He tells me it all because he must
He has to tell someone, or else, he will be lost
His name is Damian and he is a man
And he has trusted me with his story
I am not an author, I am a scribe
I take no credit for this work

This is what you were writing last night...I gotta say it has you all over it. Kind of spooky really, this vision comes to you in a dream to tell the story. And you told it, I think anyway, very well.
