Is there a significance to the two figures sharing a leg, or is it an illusion?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

graemeb In reply to CreepyE [2013-04-18 23:55:31 +0000 UTC]

Haha, the composition would not work with four so I made it three, she is a puppet anyhow so loosing a leg is not a issue besides they are joined at the hip.

CreepyE In reply to graemeb [2013-04-19 00:24:58 +0000 UTC]

Oh ok, I thought it was symbolic of something I couldn't decipher. In any case I thought it was phenomenal!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

graemeb In reply to CreepyE [2013-04-19 08:22:40 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. I guess the symbolic message of it is she has no self control.

Good job! I really like the strong colours.
Only the legs are a little strange. The left leg of the women seems too thin. Also I am missing one foot of the puppet and the one it has looks more like a real foot, compared with the arms and the mouth of the puppet.

Otherwise great job! I really love the two faces and their expressions.

graemeb In reply to c4ligo [2012-07-18 05:10:35 +0000 UTC]

Yes it is confusing, I could not get the puppets leg to fit in to the composition I wanted so I removed it, that's artistic licence for you. I don't think she has much self control.

c4ligo In reply to graemeb [2012-07-18 08:04:04 +0000 UTC]

Either I am misunderstanding you, or I did a poor job expressing my thoughts in my first comment.
My comment on the legs was mainly curious. I do like the look of them. On first glance I wasnt even sure if the leg in the middle belongs to the women or the puppet. It would fit both, especially with how the skirt falls.
Only after looking closer I found out that one leg is missing and I wanted to know if there is maybe a story behind that.

Love your work.

graemeb In reply to c4ligo [2012-07-18 22:46:04 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. No the other leg just didn't fit in with what I wanted and I noticed how the one leg sort off worked for them both so that is what happened. When your making it up you are alowed to do that sort of thing, haha

Of all the things that could catch my attention with this piece, it's the subtle patterns in the furniture. I have no excuses... I just think you're brilliant at furniture.

the plan is to retire at the end of the upcoming school year at age 55...... we shall see - that would give me some great years (?????) to live my dream,
have a (retirement check) come in the mail - and never have to go to work again!

graemeb In reply to janellemckain [2012-07-23 05:53:34 +0000 UTC]

yeah that sounds good, I got out at 51, it's a hard dream to live but I wouldn't change a thing, I love the fight of trying to make it. My retirement check was not big enough but I think that just made me fight harder.
Good luck, hope you can make it happen.

Well, i kept looking at it without knowing what to express. The odd duplicate use leg. The dummy, the other. It doesn't speak to me, it murmurs, so i can't quite hear it. And this picture must so short change the real life experience.

strangely has an E. strange, huh?

And, came by to look again, good sign. The striped outfits have a UPC feel, which i feel adds to the piece.
