Description For whatever reason, while browsing around Gettysburg I developed a fascination with cannons, their shape, their wheels, the chains and mechanisms that allow them to fire. This picture is a close up of one of the mechanisms that allowed the soldiers to aim the cannon at the enemy. Being that it is taken so close up, it really does have an almost abstract quality to it if you don't know what you are looking at.

I like it, its got a nice isolated subject, the background isn't distracting, and the lighting is nice. Lovely shot.

This is actually one of about 35 shots I did focusing on various parts of the cannon. For some reason this aiming pin (or whatever it is called) makes for a really great subject. I will probably post more of the series at some point, but only the black and whites because in the color version, the background is way too distracting.
