Description
So I'm a little late to the bandwagon on this one, but I figured I'd hop on anyway. I choose not to include my age, and I moved the descriptions to the description (???).Descriptions-
2014:There's more from this year in my binder that isn't just digital stuff, but I didn't feel like scanning and editing it lol. All of these were done with a trackpad in this weird digital notebook that was on my laptop at the time (that was definitely not made for drawing). This was the beginning of when I was learning to draw people, and yes, if that happens to look familiar to any of you, it is the My Little Pony: Equestria Girls art style. Not a great style to learn from, but I quickly moved on.
2015: This is when I got my first how to draw book. I learned from the anatomy, and I practiced drawing more realistic human forms. Also I learned that people have boobs sometimes and I should actually draw them instead of pretending they don't exist. I also began experimenting with markers. It was short lived, but I do still have the brush markers that I did that drawing with! The third drawing from the left is the first life study I ever did. I remember being proud of the foot.
2016: This is when I really began improving. I did more life studies, and gained a stronger grasp on anatomy. I specifically remember focusing on learning faces based on book covers I had on hand. I also started to work on drawing more realistic clothing, what with learning to draw folds and shading. I still enjoy the style of shading I used back then with pencil, although I don't think it's changed much since then. This is also where you may start to recognize drawings, and if you don't, you can scroll back in my gallery and find them easily.
2017: This year my anatomy continued to improve (and I learned how to draw profiles, apparently). I believe this was when I started using India ink. I began experimenting with color as well, and I tried a couple different things to try and find a medium that suited me. I went through a fairly brief colored pencil faze that, although it didn't go anywhere, I am very glad I tried, and I have a friend to thank for that. Then I did some weird minimalist colored pen experiments that also didn't go anywhere. But the next year...
2018: I discovered watercolors!! I'm still learning, obviously. It's been less than a year after all. But this is where it started! I started learning how to do effective color schemes, which was good. I also tried incorporating backgrounds more, as well as more complex silhouettes and black and white pieces.
2019: I don't have much for this one yet. I've been doing more with watercolors, and trying to get my facial anatomy under control.
Goals: Something that I noticed while making this is that my art pieces look very bland. They have good looking characters, but the illusion ends as soon as you can see the paper. I want to work pieces that cover the full page and have more complex backgrounds. I also want to start working bigger and adding more details.
Onwards!
