[applehead]The memory of you emerges from the nothing of my mind
I accidentally let the thinking escape from my conscience
and grab me.
suddenly it starts to feel warm.
I thought I saw the fire you lit so long ago,
although extinguished now, the wick still remained.
I remember you as you were, as we were.
the secret nicknames, the the late nights,
like our own little language in a secluded world.
you used to call me "apple head"
because you always made me blush.
I remember that feeling, it felt so sweet
like drinking honey blossom tea,
or letting chocolate melt in your mouth.
It tasted so nice, I missed it so much,
I felt a slight pain in my heart.
Everything turned so bitter
and I tasted nickels and dimes.
I feel the tangling shadows
release my from their hold
and recede back into my head.
I stood up vacantly as the night passed on
watching the moon shift positions,
and the shadows continually dance.
