"When it comes to little Scythe, Urumi and Boomerang...you ARE the father!"

This look adorible.

Which begs the question...does the father orca stay with his family?

No, orcas have no paternal family role, like all other cetaceans. They use the equivalent of one night stands to avoid inbreeding, and females tend to select older aged males so that their daughters may not accidentally mate with them in the future.

But hey, there’s always artistic license. :3

I see. c:

Is the leader of the pod a female? Similar to elepants?

Yes, very much so. A pod of orcas isn’t very different from a herd of elephants. Grown bulls may leave their mother’s pod occasionally (as opposed to being exiled and forming a bachelor group), but always return within a few days.

Like a family visit?

Sort of. That’s where it can get confusing, as researchers have found that local populations of orcas are basically very big extended families. A similar audio dialect is the first way to identify which pods are related, and which are not.

Interresting. ;o;

I've discovered that sharks who form groups and schools are more social than we thought.

True. The clues as to how and why aren’t as apparent. But sharks aren’t nearly as solitary or mindless as they were once appeared to be.

Indeed.

Which gives Jack a more valid reason to be so sad after he lost his family. :C

SO MANY BABIES!! Love their little fetal folds, I'm always a little too nervous to try and render that but you did a great job! Also love the big bean resting on mama's head. So cute!

Thank you!

I think with this I exceeded my cuteness quota for a while. Worth it, though.

Aw, momma's lovely, though she looks a little tired here I could sit here and go 'awww' all day long, it's just an overload of cuteness. Gonna get a toothache from how sweet it is. I really like how you add a lot more character to the bg with the blurred out bg orca.
It's sweet that she looks so warm and proud of her babies, I get a vibe of graciousness from her. Scythe, Urumi and Boomerang all turned out adorable here, so young but I can see the hints of their personality already. Urumi taking the top, lil Boomer underneath momma's fin, Scythe hovering over him. Well, we know where the dark green eye color comes from now!
Adorable work Great job Gray

I know, I need to lay off the cute throttle. But in this one, there was no avoiding it. :3

She may be tired now, but at least she's free from carrying them all around - literally. A common eye color seemed the best way to tie them all together (Boomer's lighter green eyes are from Dad's side). Their markings are similar in a general sense, but no one set is really exactly like the other (expect Urumi's right and Boomer's EPs). So, viola.

Thanks again, for all your recent feedback and inspiration!

Does she have any help??

Ah, well, I'm not sure yet but basically what I have in mind is that Momma is a well respected lady of the pod and so has the help of most of the pod members

Shadow has mentioned the triplets have a few uncles (momma’s brothers, assumedly), but besides that we haven’t designed the rest of the pod yet.
