Description
Entry for King of the Monster Gods’ spring contest The Satyr King. This is by far the most complex monster he has devised that I have attempted. I’m not entirely satisfied. It seems static—though the snakes have a lot of swirling spin to them. I suppose it’s because I was focusing so much on the form of the Monster. I felt honor bound to finish him though, since I’d begun!King-of-Monster-Gods

The person's pose is very stable, static, hands-behind-back. So overall i agree with the judge’s comments for the contest, but, congratulations on 2nd place!

I agree too-- I wasn't thrilled with this, but I spent most of my time trying to figure out the monster itself. It was pretty complex. It was worth trying to figure out though-- even if it wasn't exactly my best. I thought it was.static when I did it. Ah well. Can't win 'am all!

I'm really impressed and it's such a pleasure to discover them everywhere I look! I like the setting too, the creature looks really tall and massive just in front of the woman!
And good job with the dynamism, I don't find it static at all!

I like that this is a ferocious being, but there's no sense of fear or terror. As I see it, this adds to the "rites" part of the image. The conception is really amazing, too -- Great work!
