Given Lightning's tough as nails character it was fun to outfit her in more feminine attire, having tried her as a redhead (my personal preference
) I went back to the original candy-floss pink.The working title, which stayed to the finish, suggested the background image of storm clouds rolling in.

Thank you, this image gave me the chance to work with my favourite area of costume design, fantasy designs do have the best materials in my view 
The background was an experiment, if it had been chosen I didn't know where the 'blurb would have been placed so rather than have background lines interfere with them I left these lines off.
I am so pleased with how this worked on the image that I have continued to use the same technique on subsequent images including the graphic novel I recently began work on.

Wow, that's a really cool pic too~ It works super well with bringing out the other objects too. Often I find that very detailed backgrounds can be very distracting if they're lined but that way it's detailed and the eye has no trouble figuring out what's going on. Clever!

Many thanks, I've committed to continuing the same technique throughout the Special Edition, being daunting as it is to me (flying without the safety net of inked lines), over the rest of the project and your analysis has put a big smile on my face. The inspiration for the technique has come from the hours of animeΒ I have seen over the past year (box set series yay!
