This drawing marks a pivotal point for me, since upon its completion I've decided not to do another multiple-character drawing for the next 20 years. Which is a shame, since I have a few unfinished pieces with multiple characters coming up...
Pretty happy with it, the Heralds of Light terminator being my favourite part. Also, drawing dreadnoughts is like taking an engineering course.
On the bad guys, I recall this [link] raising some discussion due to the purity seals. So I've decided to keep them. Like I said, they're recent traitors, and angry about being treated so. Thus, if the Alpha Legion can yell "For the Emperor", these guys can wear seals and state they are still under the Emperor's protective gaze, who sees them as the loyal soldiers they are.

Ok so I don't who the good guys are and where they are in the picture and so on so forth, but what are their Chapter names?

On the left are the good guys. With the star symbol we have the Heralds of Light. The ones with the dog head are the Imperial Hounds (if memory serves).
On the right corner are the bad guys, the Lions of Alba. They're recent renegades, hence why the armour isn't defiled.

Just one qestion, though:
When you first draw your figures, do you draw basic shapes then detail them later, or do you just draw them, guns blazing and all?

Well...I try to do the first, and also to draw from front to background, but...well, let's say I've yet to perfect the art of drawing multiple characters. I usually draw a figure almost to completion, but then I think of another one that would look awesome on the background of the enemy force and I start drawing that one, afterwards returning to the previous one...yeah, it gets messy.

It is a true clusterfuck, but it is not caused by splashing characters and objects so that every square millimeter will be covered, but it is a clusterfuck caused by amazing amount of details. I like that kind of clusterfucks. Also when you zoom it is crystal clear. But still, I cannont recognize where are the good guys, and where are the bad ones. These eight-pointy things on these cloths are deceiving.
Also, what is that freakin unicorn doing on that termie armor ?

Ah, you noticed the unicorn...it's actually the sword from the marine rider.
The bad guys (on the right) have a few more spikes and some of them carry chaosy bits, generally identifiable by the traditional Chaos arrows or pointed tip. On the eight-pointed thing (the Heralds of Light's symbol, I think it conveys the "shining" effect very nicely).

You know, I consider every eight-pointy things that especially resemble star, as an Chaos sign, since these guys like these eight pointed stars.
Also I think someone (maybe you ? *hint* *hint*) should color this, but the coloring job got's too be good on this one, since we cannot make it even more intensive.

Indeed, I currently don't have a chance to paint even on par with the lineart (hope this doesn't sound arrogant, I can see every flaw in the drawing when I close my eyes).
I use a 0.35 mechanical pencil (great for details), then do the outline with a 1.0 one and, finally, erase any stray lines and whatnot using the microsoft picture manager and paint.

I like the image a lot, but I lol'd because it looks like the big guy in the middle is whacking that other marine in the groin with his hammer.
