To me it looks like the vine is making a fist at you. The slightly deeper in the DOF would be the lower hand or wrist, and then the thin, straight part of the vine is the forearm. Its that kind fist with the fingers facing upward. Sort of like "let me at'm, let me at'm!!!" or "I ought'a!" with that smug, Boston kinda accent haha.
