Description
A couple of extra steps- for adding sloped sides.

I altered the second block's size (by way of the smaller square shown in Step 1) to show what happens when this is done. This is why it looks different than the ones from the previous five steps. Even a small change can especially affect the top block very much; the top of this pyramid is much closer to the horizon than it originally was.

Note that the bottom block was not changed, though.

In spite of all of this, the corners are still aligned. So variations are easily possible.
