Outside Crashed Unknown Type-56 Lich
Genesis Planet

Linda was surveying the area around the crashed Lich to identify any potential threats. The white colored Lich had burnt marks all over, most likely by whatever had taken down the Spartan team.

“What's the status Linda, we have a clear sight of the Lich,” said Fred over the communication radio.

“Negative enemy contact,” respond Linda, “Kelly and the rest are on foot approaching the crash site.”

“Good, we just dropped off LC Willmore about half a click out,” said Fred, “we are approaching the site as well.”

“Half a click out?” sparked Linda, “Guess Alan still isn't as good as I am.”

“Don't kid yourself Linda, I wanted to take a position five clicks out, but my Commander wants me to keep close so I can run to the Lich in a short time. We're hopping the Lich is in good enough shape to get off this planet,” responded Alan Willmore from the opposite side of the valley from Linda.

“It might be, it's hull is scorched pretty badly, but its systems appear to be okay,” said Linda.

“Linda,” said Fred slightly changing the topics, “Do you know anything about that white hull, Commander Hamm says it is the the first time he has seen it.”

“I've never seen it before,” responded Linda.

“Okay, thanks Linda,” thanked Fred.

Fred and Commander Hamm were sitting in the same Spade with the Master Chief mounted on the trucks bed heading towards the crash site.

“Most likely a rogue group,” said Roy Hamm who had been listening into the conversation.

“Not some sort of high ranking Covenant,” asked Fred.

“Could be that too, it's kinda hard to tell with the Great Unification,” responded Hamm.

“So that's what they are calling the conscripting of the Elites now.”

“I wouldn't quite call it conscripting, a lot of the Sangheili houses didn't want to follow the Arbiter, especially with his pro-human ideology. Some went their own way, like Jul 'Mdama and others rejoin the Covenant with the Prophets.”

“Even though they know the Prophets lie to them.”

“Some rather trade truth for comfort, humanity is not all that different.”

The two spades carrying most of the Spartans arrived about 200 meters from the crashed Lich: Lieutenant Fred-104, Master Chief John-117, Commander Roy Hamm, Lieutenant Commander Alan Willmore, and Spartan Ava Cephon.

Spartan Kelly-087, Jacqueline O'Connor, and Agent Lau were just a few meters on the opposite side of the Lich. They carefully scanned the area looking for any signs of the enemy, but the area was empty.

“What's the status Kelly,” asked Fred over the com channel.

“So far all clear, no enemy contacts,” responded Kelly.

“Be careful, enemy could be using active camouflage,” commented Hamm, “Lau, are you setting up the cross sensors.”

“I dropped two of them, but I need a third to set up the grid,” responded Lau.

“I got you covered,” said Hamm as he placed down a small sensor pod that would help set up a sensor grid that could detect a life sign regardless of the use of active camouflage.

“It's set up, I got two life signs,” said Lau, “One Prophet and a...”

“A what,” said Hamm as he raised his weapon. At the same time the door on the Lich opened up. Commander Hamm lowered his weapon at the surprise that came out of the door, “Liyet?”

“Hey Commander,” said Delta Team's Asari specialist.

“What are you doing here,” said Hamm surprised to see their missing teammate, “I thought you were captured by the Empire.”

“Yeah, thanks for that rescue by the way,” said Liyet, “Tezma busted me out.”

“Who,” questioned Hamm.

While Liyet explained her connection with the former Prelate, Fred called over the com channel for the team to reassemble by the Lich.

“Well that doesn't explain much,” responded Commander Hamm at Liyet's explanation.

“Well that's my story,” said Liyet, “What are you guys doing here?”

“We are here on a mission to sabotage a bunch of Forerunner tech to prevent the Prometheans from using it,” explained Hamm, “What about you, how did you get out here?”

“We have a device that lets us transit through the space here,” explained Liyet, “Tezma was hired to just get out here, to see if it's possible.”

“And you are just tagging along,” filled in Hamm.

“More or less,” said Liyet, “maybe hoping to find some information to help support some of my theories.”

“Well, I don't know how much time we have here,” said Commander Hamm.

“If we don't find a ride out of here, we will have plenty of time,” said Fred.

“How's the condition of your Lich,” asked Hamm.

Tezma floated closer to the group, “An EMP blast took us down, I'll just need to reset the relays, but the installations security is an issue.”

The group was then interrupted as large explosion could be seen above. Everyone looked at each other. The mostly silent Master Chief spoke up, “What was that?”

“That...that was the installation's security that took both of us down,” responded Cortana from the Master Chief's communication system.

“How or who did that” asked Hamm.

“I am detecting a slipstream rupture above us,” warned Cortana.

Above the group a slipstream rupture appeared overhead, which revealed a cruiser size Forerunner ship. It's orange glow revealed its affiliations as a Promethean vessel.

“Where are those Composers, Cortana,” shouted Hamm as the situation was getting more tense.

“There are two nearby, suggest that we split up to improve the odds of success,” suggested Cortana, “We only need to get access to one of them. If one of Delta Team's members would volunteer I can link with one of their suits and transmit the command codes through them.”

“Agreed,” said Fred, “Hamm take your team, and I'll take mine.”

“Sounds good,” said Hamm as he gestured his team to move out.

“Here take this,” said Tezma as he tapped a console on his forearm. When he did this two Type-46 Spectre hovered out of the main area of the Lich.

“Should be quicker then those human trucks,” said Tezma.

“Thanks,” said Commander Hamm.

“You're mission site is located in the mountains, take the Specters,” said Fred, “We will take the Mongooses.”

“Thanks Fred,” said Commander Hamm as he hopped into the former Covenant vehicle, followed by the rest of his team.

“Good luck Commander,” said Fred as Blue team began their disembarkation the area.

“You too Fred,” said Hamm back.

“We don't need it,” Kelly said jokingly back.

Alan who was still lightly catching his breath from his run to the area, “Remember when they would never crack a joke.”

“Yeah,” responded Hamm, “Take the turret, Liyet you coming?”

“Uh, I want to,” responded Liyet, “but Tezma might need some...”

“Go, you might find it,” responded Tezma, “I can get my vessel ready, so we can leave.”

“Thank You,” said Liyet as she climbed into the Spectre, “I'll keep a look out for you.”

Hamm nodded in thanks at Tezma, “Let's go team.”

The two Specters carrying Delta Team moved out towards their objective. Hamm quickly looked towards Liyet, “It's good to have you back, I am glad that you are okay.”

“Thanks Commander,” said Liyet a little touched by Commander Hamm's gesture, as she felt that she annoyed and irritated him more often then help him.
