Well, this one turned out to be a pleasant surprise.

After spending the last few days binge-watching this series, I can now say that this show has gotten me intrigued and hooked. The first season of Amphibia has been a solid and really enjoyable ride and did a great job at setting up and developing the show's world, characters and lore despite having minor continuity issues. For a show I didn't expect much going I went out feeling interested and satisfied with the show's direction and future. The world is an interesting setting filled with so many elements waiting to be explored filled with beautiful and terrifying landscapes and creatures. The characters so far have been very pleasant and have some nice development to them, with Hop Pop being my favorite character excluding Anne. Anne herself is shaping up to be a great main character with her character arc revolving around learning how to fit in the community that she's in being the only human in a village full of frogs and learning what true friendship is after the bad influences that come from her peers and how their bad behavior distorted her view of true friendship while also learning to stand up for herself and grow as a person. The writing of the show has been really good so far, the humor is dark yet hilarious and the main story is turning out to be something wonderful while mixing it with themes such as the dangers of emotional manipulation, the hierarchy of society, and true meaning of friendship and family, which is the theme that will carry the emotional heart of this show.

Amphibia is a show that I expected nothing for and yet it left me wanting more of it. This show going to be something worthwhile and I can't wait for its second season to arrive. If this season just sets up what is going to happen in the future, I can already say that we're going to see something special with this one.
