Description
Hmmm...Seems NekochanK built up her fame by copying a load of images pose for pose, camera angle to camera angle. I had thought it was really just a similar pose I saw on an anime pic on some not-necessary-to-name website but when I saw the image on the left on a random google search for Witchblade desktops.....I couldn't help but rage immediately.
Why I made this I am not sure, but it sure made me do a double take when I saw the original. It's odd when you go "Wait a minute...I've seen that pose before...." and then start realizing just how much of an undeserving tool an artist you may have admired at one point REALLY IS for just copying something that another artist was probably paid a lot more to do, or is better than you anyways.
Just something to consider when looking at her work......other than you know, having loads of viewers try so hard to sound mature on her pictures when all they want to see is more tits and ass.
I already had a rant about this on a journal awhile ago, I just want to see how many people actually get pissed about this.

I like how all assmad the people defending the intellectual theft are.
Give credit where it's due... When you don't: It's not art, it's theft.
Copying someone else's material just makes you a better Xerox.
And to the individual bringing up "Gawd", open up your Bible and read the fine print. I'm sure it's in there...Even your gawd has to answer to copyright laws and bitches about property being ripped off for popularity's sake.

actually,in my humble opinion, in this case i wouldn't consider credit being due. simply because it's an image being formatted to paper, no different than drawing a bird you see outside your window. not everyone credits God for His work. it's not a trace, as far as i can tell. i enjoy a good rant though, and i appreciate the concern for true artists' work. they are truly inspirations for others. i wonder how many fans are upset with you now? LOL. thanks for the awareness of the situation.

i agree with you totally being 13 i happen to use a lot of already created posses just so that i can get anatomy down but i try to credit the artist. I'll have to make sure i ALWAYS credit the artist XD this post has made me completely realize that :]

Wow, the resemblance is uncanny, and, LOL, right down to the bar-line. Although the one to the right has some pretty obvious anatomy mistakes, this was probably just a blatant copy instead of a blatant trace. Either way, good job on catching this, you're a credit to DA. Keep up the vigilantism

You know what blows my top off? I can't find the fucking picture from NekochanK's gallery herself for me to prove this to her blind fans.
Used to be a big fan myself, not until I started seeing several of her pics being near-carbon copies of pictures from artists WHO WORK PROFESSIONALLY and don't draw what I call "slut art" all the time.

And you are... suprised? The one thing the Internet is great at is covering up evidence. Unlike the real world where theft leaves evidence, evading arrest on the Interweb is as easy as pressing delete. A lesson from this would be to hit "Print Screen" on your keyboard ASAP and then continue with the theif-bashing and/or spamming. Finally, "Slut art" serves the same purpose as photos of people dressing up like vampires or cutting themselves: it's pathetic cry for attention, may also be a compensating method for not having enough boob or butt, or in some cases, having too much phallis...

Sad thing is I don't have a functioning "Print Screen" button.
"Slut art", as I've said, the artist just.....well here's a conversation I had with her on the topic(forgive me for the proceeding wall of text, but if you read it you'll see I had real intentions to reach out.))
I feel as though I need to explain myself, so knowing the fact that I've known you for basically..well, YEARS now, I'll be as honest as I can be.
I'm not offed by you by your choice to do what you want. You are an artist; a free spirit showcasing yourself in the form of art in any way imaginable.
But what I used to see as the independant NekochanK before I'm not so sure anymore. I don't want to see you becoming another tool and I fear you're slowly becoming one; caught up in the hype of having so many fans and watchers. As far as original artworks go, you barely post any anymore and if you do it's another Neko/Katrina/Kian-esque picture/wallscroll or the like and then it's back to posting commissions people have paid you for.
Believe me, receiving money to do commissions is one thing every artist wants; I wish I could say the same myself. Not having art equipment though is hindering me as well so I can't really do much. However, I feel as though you've lost a little bit of yourself because you don't seem to branch much out of the "I draw erotic, ecchi works for money and all the art I do has a sexual taste to it.".
Believe me there is nothing wrong with that but as an artist I respect you WAY too much to keep watching you go down this spiral and continue the way you are. That poll you recently put up may look like nothing more than a challenge you put before yourself, but for others who tend to think outside the box like I do...maybe we found something more than what you intended..? And why SHOULD you put a poll that lets the watchers decide what YOU should draw? Do what you want, and unless you're just really FLAT out of ideas and having a bad day, don't let what others want influence your artwork unless it's for criticism.
All I'm saying is that I've grown respect for you for what you were able to do ON YOUR OWN, not because others told you to. You have people faving your work left and right and giving you the attention you need and love, but are they really appreciating the work you put forth, or just did so because there's boobs on the screen? Or are you just the type of person who doesn't care WHAT kind of fan he/she attracts? Of course you have no control over what people like...but then again maybe to try to aim for a good audience?
As I will say, this didn't come up "suddenly", my views have been changing about this (you) for awhile; slowly and bit by bit. I remember way back when when you were trying out a new style to draw Neko and THAT was revolutionary. You never went back to that, but that was definitely worth watching you for anyways.
This won't be the last you hear from me. I may decide to come back after awhile, but as for now I don't want to be looking up to an artist who may or may not be a one-trick pony. I tried to make THAT last statement as nice as I could.
*hugs* Remember Karla, I respect you way too much as a person to just leave you hanging, so I figured telling you this upfront and all I said was the best. I hope that when I come back to visit you on dA that you've probably learned something.
Peace in 2009,
Aaron
By now you have an idea that I have known her for a long time and was a bud of her too. So surely she must have listened to me or at least considered replying genuinely. What do I get instead as a response?

ahhh,.. wall of text >_<
im not doing what people tell me to, i just did that poll because I want to draw that i just want to know in what order if i didn't the poll title would read "what do you want me to draw next"
Just. fucking. wow.
And I thought she would give a damn about what I said to, oh I don't know, not just shrug me off with that airheaded reply.

Again, mate, you're suprised? Whoever this person is, I'm sure they have a following so huge that their watchlist requires to be scrolled at least twice. The way I see it, as soon as an artist put up a poll asking "What do you want me to draw", they're not longer artists, but the metaphorical prostitute of the interweb. Obviously she's going to shrug you off with an air-head reply, after all, she's got hundreds of "I <3 Ur Rt" messages to bath in. I recommendation is to spam them for a bit and then move on. Not really much you can do about it at this point. On a side note, that lengthy text is very similar to what I would put on a letter for an intervention...

It was just depressing and rage-worthy to figure the fact that someone I knew who was a friend to me just shrugged me off just because I wouldn't buy her disproportionate 'tits and ass' artwork every deviation she'd make. So yeah, I was still surprised about that.
Sure there are other artists I watch that do things that are similar...but I guess I like them more for not selling out to one art style completely and they still have integrity left.
..and yeah..she has a big fucking following, just take a look at her gallery, hit 'refresh' on your browser for 5 minutes and you'll probably see a new set of new comments.
Plus I...I just HAD to draw the line when she drew Master fucking Chief from Halo as nothing more than eyecandy (which in that case, it could have been ANYONE in Spartan armor, not the Chief himself gender-bended) and raged when she bothered with Solid Snake as well. I mean fuck. Really?

Oh, and what the fuck do you plan to do other than rant? Nothing, I'm guessing. Have fun getting pissed and doing nothing about it. I really don't care all that much, but people that take such heavy viewpoints on artists and then don't act at all? Did you even talk to her yourself and ask? It's common for artists to practice with poses from other artists. Do something if you feel strongly about it.

That's the whole point is rant, . Honestly you people read too much into me, it's hilarious.
I didn't "do" anything against her after my journal on her, only to help people realize what a tool she is for her style and whatnot. Same applies to this.
You think I didn't talk to her myself about at least wondering why she has started being a "one trick pony" for how her art is and where it stands? IN my journal that debunked her, I had posted a long-written note from buddy to buddy *she was my friend for quite awhile* just talking to her about my concerns. All I got back was a basic "lol wut?" note back.
Good job assuming so much about me.haha.

It goes farther than that too, for most of her other works.
I could simply be labled as a troll just trying to get attention, bu tknowing she was a friend of mine for years and knowing how her art USED to be *you know, not just tits and ass every god damn time* and that she was an individual....I just...
I can't respect someone like that. Using references is fine but bastardizing something that an obviously more talented artist did just so you can make your own art FROM it?
That'd be like if I took a basic pic of Goku, traced it, made like, 2 or 3 changes, recolored the GI, and named him my own OC. Shit's ridiculous, and her fans eat up her shit so easily.
I went to her blogspot page. Now she's bothered to try "American" toons in ecchi. Louis from Family Guy. It was bad enough just trying to sexualize Master Chief and fucking Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid but that's just...ugh.

I feel the same way. I'd rather see someone work and push themselves further. Besides there's very little someone can learn from simply copying.. I can understand using a similar pose.
I watch a lot of people too XD

If your argument was "he/she should credit the original artist", I'd be in favor of that.
But obviously this artist isn't *amazing* by any stretch, and so learning poses by copying is an efficient way to develop his/her artistic skill.
Put another way: the pic probably would've been a lot worse if he/she hadn't had source material. As a typical viewer, all I care about is the quality of the final artwork. If mimicking another artist's poses increases the quality of your art, do it!
(and because I'm male, yes I am attracted to certain visual patterns thanks to evolution: aka T&A. But art is creating attractive visual patterns - so embracing this knowledge rather than rejecting it is the path to being successful.)
(for what it's worth, I have no clue who the artist is.)
