Description
Well. long story short, We're doing a 4 stage silk screan print for printmaking in which we use a subject from another class (which means geting 2 projects done at once!). so, for those who havnt got a clue what im talking about, its basically 4 layers of different inks to create a picture. For my subject, I chose to get my 'tracing' tessellation for drawing class out of the way, this is an echer inspired thing in which the tessellation changes along the way, tracing as in keeping track of such a change... tell me when Im loosin ya. SO I looked at a tessellation of a shape that turns into the different suits of cards, hearts, clubs, spades and diamonds, as I spend so much time playing spider solitaire while things load on my computer and stuff. So then I have 2 prints, the background and the subject, so first, I print the background in greeen, then block out parts of the screen and print again in lighter green or yellow so that some of the green from the first layer shows through. then print the red of the suits, then over that, the black outlines of the suits. complicated huh... well, its simpler in reality, explaining it is hard. the important thing is that im completing my tessellation project at the same time as my printmaking projectoh and the reason all the colours are in halftone is to seperate one colour into different tones so that i get multiple tones in one layer of colour... again, not as complicated as it sounds. that and I like the pop art history behind silk screen printing (such as pop artist Andy Warhol)
I made this design plan in photoshop by editing a photo of a traditional painting I knocked up for drawing class.
