When I first made this piece, it was in celebration: you can probably gather from context that it's a cleaned-up version of my first new whiteboard doodle! Goodness, I was so, so very excited when I found my board the first time. We had made a trip to town (we lived in the country at the time, so town trips were dedicated occasions) and stopped by a Goodwill on a whim. I was casually browsing the shelves, not even looking for something for myself, when I suddenly find this whiteboard in the children's section! It had a lovely setup: a very generous fifteen by eleven inch space, a padded back for lap use, and a sturdy handle for transport. The kicker, naturally was the price: one dollar and nineteen cents. Under. Two. Dollars. I'm not sure I'd ever made so quick a purchase before. ^_^; The same evening we returned home, I scrawled out two entire drawings - this one's sketchy counterpart and "Muted Edge.JPG" - before going to bed.

It took a little more time for me to come back to coloring this one - a boring late summer afternoon, and not much motivation to make something new on the board. So if not creating something new, why not embellish something already made? Not in Photoshop though - the program had been giving me problems and I wanted something easy... and the hasty doodle was not all to my liking either, so I was fixing to change the shape of it somehow. Enter good old MS Paint. "New Toy.PNG" was the first pixel art I had done in years - my last one was finished in the middle of 2011. It wasn't made entirely from scratch though, since a copy of my drawing was shrunken to size before I traced over it. And perhaps calling it "pixel art" might be a stretch, with it so relatively big... Ah well.

Still though, I'm happy enough with it - and once this set gets uploaded, the large whiteboard collection will be complete! The end of the retroactive gallery uploads draws closer and closer...
