Description
[Completed 9/23/21]For those unaware: this thing's a thumbnail-ish prep sketch made for an already-published whiteboard piece! You'll find that one here:

Among common advice given to aspiring artists heavier on the technical side of things, I've heard, "Make some thumbnail sketches or loose doodles before committing to the final draft," and they're probably right, though I only follow that admonition on occasion.
This was one of those times though; drawing subjects with a design drawn from life is challenging enough, but doing the reverse - working from an illustration simpler in design... or in special cases like the "faceless" content creator this one's inspired by, a literal voice - is arguably harder, in my opinion. Thankfully the AU this character's from is illustrated in part, enough to pull together screenshots from (supplemented by specific detail references like scar tissue), but an interesting challenge nonetheless.
I was pretty happy with how it turned out on its own though, hence the separate photo. ^_^

(...How is it that one can derive an appearance from only a voice and the most basic of physical descriptors, I wonder? Just thinking out loud here)
A minor wrinkle: this fellow normally wears a circular mask that covers most of his upper face, but it was important for me to figure out how his face would look beneath it before incorporating the mask in his design. In-character, it's to cover the scar running across one eye. Out-of-character, it's a key part of his inspiration's branding. ^_^
