Chapter 4

The coyotes were waiting for the cat’s first move. They both were in a stalking position but staying in one spot licking their lips and staring at the cats with hunger in their eyes.

“We can’t fight them there are not enough of us and we can’t out run them either, were too tired!”Cookietail mumbled to Riverfrost with fear in her eyes. “We can’t scare them off either!”

The coyotes were now perusing the cats snarling picking their first meal. They cocked their heads to Crescentmoon and gave chase. Crescentmoon gave a yelp of fear and tried to climb the mountain walls but slid back down to get nipped at by razor teeth in the tail. Goldenclaw let out a yowl of anger and fear and charged at the nearest coyote and sunk his fore claw into the coyotye’s hind. The beast turned dug it's teeth into goldenclaw's neck causeing Goldenclaw to yelp and flung goldenclaw off its hind into the rocky walls.

“Oh Starclan help us!” Rainfrost cried backing away, only to be clawed aside by the same coyote that attacked Goldenclaw in the face. Rainfrost was now having a unfair battle with the coyote.The other was still trying to pull crescentmoon off the wall.

Goldenclaw lied motionless at the bottom of the stone wall panicked Cookietail cautiously but speedily trotted over to his bloody still body. The closer she got the better she could see the wounds he had, a deep gash on his side from the wall and bad teeth marks on his neck, they tore his skin near his spine. The gash on his side was bleeding heavily and he was faintly breathing. Half relived she stood over his body protecting him from the coyote’s cause he was easy prey.

“Starclan help us!”
