This is kindof cool but it's missing something, and I can't quite place my finger on it.

This is awesome. The lighting kicks ass. I do have to say it might look better if you'd left the background a bit sharper.
You need to do more experimental stuff I think, 'cause you've got the whole perfectly-lit-macro-with-shallow-dof down.
