Description
There was something that was bothering me about my art recently. Yeah, what's new, right? But really, it stood out to me a lot. And that was, it's become too safe. I'd stopped experimenting like I used to, and everything was starting to look very same-y. I realized the problem was that I'd become afraid to try new things because, what if it didn't look good? So was my thinking. But now, having taken notice of that, I realize how dumb it is. Art is made for experimentation, not doing the same thing all the time. So how did I fix it? Well... one of the big driving forces behind art is inspiration. I'd long stopped taking part in leisure activity because it's easy to waste time with it, but it's also important to get ideas from other places besides yourself. So I watched anime for the first time in about a year. And... it begot me this. The anime I watched was Middle Management Blues Tonegawa, a spinoff of the awesome anime, Kaiji. The main character was very cool, and part of the reason behind that was the gratuitous use of upwards shots, like here. So I decided to try it for myself.

Was it challenging? Kinda. Perspective is one of those things that my head has trouble understanding for whatever reason, so yeah. Some parts have to be exaggerated while others become smaller. It always feels wrong, in a sense. But, I think I understand it a little better now. Another thing I tried was using lighting correctly. I usually ignore it because it's easier that way, but the easy way out is for cowards. So I tried to make it more accurate here. It's not terrible, in my opinion. But yeah. I'm definitely going to try more perspective out, and some other things too. Never become comfortable! That's the way of the artist.
