Opal blinked blankly as she looked down at the watery weapon she’d been given. This was… unorthodox, but not exactly out of her range of skills. It just meant she’d need to… ‘suit up’, so to speak. Among other things… She sighed weakly. It’d been a long time since she’d been in any sort of water-based fight.
She looked to the Mime Jr. sitting on her shoulder, who did a jaunty pose, before miming shooting a water gun. She shrugged.
“I suppose it could be… fun.” She said, quietly, tapping her chin.
“Hmmm… Should I do this as Judge Opal or Host Opal?” She asked, blankly. Her Pokemon tapped it’s chin gently, before holding up both of it’s hands. She nodded.
“Understood.” She mumbled. Immediately, she seemed to change- She squared her shoulders, straightened her back ever so slightly, and a smile slipped onto her face as if from nowhere. She gave the super-soaker an exaggerated pump.
“Okay, let’s suit up.” She said with a hearty, entirely natural-sounding laugh.
She strode out of the base, toward the house she’d gotten for herself. Thankfully she was… *somewhat* prepared for this. Rummaging through her things, she pulled out an old, tattered, rubber apron she used for… outside work back home. She pulled it on, then slipped on the face-mask she wore for… well, also outside work. It covered her mouth and nose, so thankfully she wouldn’t be slowed down too much if she got splashed with water.
She then picked her Mime Jr. and sat him on her bed. He immediately jumped up and began to twirl happily. Opal chuckled, shaking her head slowly.
“Okay, hmmm. I think I have some old props we could use for this…” She went to her closet, rummaging through the boxes she’d brought with her to Ivywood, until she found one from an old Summer Special she’d had on her show.
It had been a big, fancy event, filming out and about on the streets of Unova, throwing water balloons to beat the heat. At the end of it, she’d been dunked in the ocean by her crew, and it had all been a good laugh… until she’d fired them for it a few weeks later.
But that was in the past. All that mattered now was the props. She pulled out the box she’d been looking for, dumping it on her bed and rummaging through the contents. She found it, at last- An old pack of water balloons, and a small, pokemon-sized water gun, which she gave to her Mime. Jr. It immediately began having a pretend water-gun fight with an imaginary opponent, diving behind the box. Opal laughed, patting her Pokemon’s head.
“Now now, not the time. Let’s prepare, first.” She said, as she grabbed a hair-tie from her bedside table, and pulled her hair back into a bud, tying it taut to keep it out of her face. She handed the pack of water balloons to her Pokemon.
“Go fill these. Make sure they don’t pop, okay?” She asked. The small, pink mime nodded, bouncing off into the bathroom. The sound of packaging ripping open and the faucet being turned on filled the air soon after.
Opal tapped her chin.
“Now… Hm.” She continued rummaging for a while, before deciding she had all she needed. She turned, and placed the box back among the others in her closet, sliding the door shut.
She then joined her Mime Jr. in the bathroom, tapping her chin as she watched him fill the balloons.
“We’ll need someone to carry these…” She tapped her chin, then released her Snivy, who stretched languidly as it appeared on the floor at her feet.
“You can carry those balloons for me, right?” She asked. The Snivy looked up at the pile of balloons Opal’s Mime Jr. had filled, then at Opal, before shrugging lazily.
“That’s as much as I can ask.” Opal said, with a small laugh. She then nested the balloons on her Snivy’s back, letting them rest against it’s large, leafy tail. It looked up at her, and nodded as she stood up, filling her and her Mime Jr.’s water guns with the faucet.
With a small sigh as she realised there was no more preparing to be done, Opal let her fake genuine smile slip back onto her face behind her eyes, turning on her heel and marching outside, water-gun slung over her shoulder like some sort of action hero. With her Mime Jr. sitting on her shoulder, holding it’s gun at the ready, and her Snivy trailing behind her, she certainly looked prepared for… something.
Back into the hidden headquarters she went. Trying to ignore any stares or questioning looks, she did her best to navigate toward where she vaguely understood Arka to be- And thankfully, it didn’t take too long. She could hear the clacking claws of his Salazzle on the floor, and the calm, measured steps of his fancy shoes on the floor. She waited around the corner just long enough to let him get close, then gestured to her Pokemon to act.
The three of them whipped around the corner, her Snivy flicking it’s tail forward to lob water balloons. She felt her Mime Jr. leap off her shoulder, firing water in an exaggerated action-movie way, and Opal herself pumped her soaker and sprayed a generous amount of water, directly at the admin before her, trying not to question exactly why she was letting herself directly assault an admin of the team she’d just joined.
