Name: Deja

Gender: female

Age: 21 winters

Species: Neanderthal

Personality: Confident and a bit head-strong. Deja depends greatly on her worg, Kheb, to keep her insecurities of being alone at bay.

Background: Deja was born into the Khebrul clan, a small remnant of ancient people defined by their use of red ochre dyed clothing and a hidden cave system blessed by the spirits. Much of her early life was spent exploring the mountain valley outside the cave. It didn't take long to grow into her confidence and completed her hunting rites soon after, officially becoming an adult in the eyes of the Khebrul. Her first exploration trip to the outside world ended in near disaster when Deja got caught in a flash flood. She was found far down-stream, beaten and bruised, by a curious young worg concerned about the little human. As she healed, Deja felt that the worg had been sent by the spirits to rescue her, as he shared the same red colors favored by her tribe.

After it was discovered that her clan did not share this view and threatened to kill him, the two fled into the unknown and left the Khebrul far behind them. Deja named the red worg "Kheb" to keep a piece of home with her, bittersweet as it was, and the two have been traveling together ever since. If asked where she is from, Deja will withdraw and avoid the subject.

Preferred Weapon: Fire-hardened wooden spear, with a stone point at one end and a sharpened wood point at the other end.

It's been a while since I've drawn people, and here I am making a character that not only involves drawing hands, but feet too. xD

I love his old name Ahok'o, but I think letting Deja name him adds a bit more character, so he'll keep it as a (mostly unspoken) nickname.

I absolutely swiped the name Khebrul from one of my less-developed Flight Rising clans for their "Red Rock" home cave and to a lesser extent the spirit who shaped the cave, but that's where the similarities end. The dragon group is much friendlier to outsiders and things that are new or different. Consider the Prehistoria Khebrulans a very secretive and wary people who would rather not show the rest of the world they exist.

Edit, April '23: Decided to lighten up Deja's skin tone just a smidge to add a little more contrast between her colors and Kheb's.
