Personality:
Adrian is...distant. He tries his best to avoid land-dwellers and tries his best to be basically invisible to everyone who lives on the surface. He isn't opposed to gaining relationships, but he does push people away sometimes. Once you get passed his brooding and distant outer surface, he's a very different person. He's calm and compassionate, very supportive and strong-willed, with a hint of slight sass every now and again. Though with all this in mind, he's also a bit of a lone wolf most of the time, he very rarely asks for help and is a very independent person. He's not a stranger to speaking his mind, especially to people who are bothering him. He takes everyone's thoughts into consideration most of the time and will treat everyone equally regardless of his own personal vendettas or otherwise, though that doesn't mean he won't give those same people the side-eye when he swims away.
(I can't explain very well, so some of this might be hard to understand or not what I'm picturing, sorry)
History:
When Adrian was young, his parents told him all about how they met, how when they met, they felt an instant connection neither could explain. He was raised on the ocean waters close to the shore of an empty beach, with an entire tribe of mermaids and mermen. One day, when he was older, he bumped into a lovely mermaid by accident while out hunting, they talked, hit it off, and began seeing eachother more and more, until eventually, they fell in love, got married, and had a beautiful egg, which eventually hatched into a beautiful baby girl.
Everything was going well for the entire family, that is until a village full of land-dwellers moved in on the surface. At first, nothing was really wrong, but the land-dwellers began to over-hunt and over-fish, leaving very little for the local predators and Adrian's people to eat. Adrian was forced to join a hunting team nearly every other day just to get enough food to feed his family, often skipping meals himself just to provide for them.
Everything changed for him what fateful day when he left to hunt again, while he was gone, a large shiver of great-white sharks formed in desperation over the lack of food. Out of nowhere, the sharks attacked the village, leaving nobody alive, not even Adrian's wife and daughter. When the hunters came back, they were all horrified and devastated. Especially Adrian. He didn't blame the sharks for what happened, knowing they were just trying to survive, instead, he blamed the land-dwellers, and from that point on grew a seething hatred for them.
He tried to stay in the village, but everything around him just reminded him of his former family, so he left. He swam in a random direction, only to end up at lilypad.
Other:
-He lives in an underwater cave, which has an air pocket within it.
-He can breathe air and water, but whenever he goes on land, his body has to forcibly eject all the water in his lungs or else he can't breathe.
