I love the fact that you added binomial name with common name 
As for the characters i love their design, i find interesting you added stars on Sirstar's tip wings, omen nomen like romans would say

I do think it's important to state the bionomial name. Since the translations for species can be different and cause misunderstandings like you said.

I like Java's design the most, he's so pretty and he seems like a very devious character too.
This is a great looking character chart and very user friendly, I like the relative heights of the birds on the bottom too. You have so many gull characters.
