Part of an art trade with SinSlayer007. Was really fun drawing this and brainstorming design and biology ideas with him.

When combining the two I was thinking of how a lot of actual inter species animals are wonky giants. Sometimes animals that are both an absolute unit and an absolute menace like the grolar bear. Also animals with a grocery list of health issues like ligers. This guy’s life is painful and relatively short, but in the prime of his life he’s in the power tier of Tower dwelling wyverns that can go toe to toe with Elder Dragons.

Combined Rathian quills and Seregios scales into brittle ejectable poison quills that rain down like arrows over anything it flies under. I imagine that they’re itchy and uncomfortable for the animal, like Nergigante spikes times a hundred. Given that some hybrid animals die young due to organ shutdown I imagine this guy eats like Deviljho but can barely keep his food down, with the vomit being, probably involuntarily, ignited by the contents of a defective fire sac.

I imagine that this guy is Bazelgeuse size but a lot skinnier, he just seems to have a fuller silhouette due to all the painful overall quills. Combined Seregios horn with Rathian’s chin spike. I see him using it in a Blos Wyvern style dash attack where when he bucks his head into the sky at the end quills break off his throat like poison shrapnel at the same time. In terms of body language this guy goes from twitching and shambling to psychotic berserker at the drop of a hat.

I imagine his kicks are somewhere between Seregios and Rathalos. They can’t be comboed but are instead earth shattering wind up attacks. Wings would be much bigger but still oddly on the smaller side. He’s not airborne as much as any of his relatives and flight always a very shot affair, however his scariest moves are his aerial ones. His worst is an agonizing parallel to the Bazelgeuse dive bomb where he kamikaze crashed into the earth and tumbles while quills fracture off him everywhere. Feels like a horrendous bicycle accident combined with a plane crash. There’s a chance he’ll do his fire vomit after that too.
