I don't mind the bandages, would have removed them but I still enjoy the sword regardless!

Technically i thought the bandage look could be the extention of the ribbon. It was like a magic like seal idea. Maybe the ribbon help conceal the magic power emitted by the blade. (Just an old concept i thought up but Sadly i forget what show suggested this)
