Description One could miss it in the big overview of all my costumes , but I'm actually making a Star Wars inspired costume - a Sith named Darth Azkarra. Yes, even from before the first Episode 7 trailer arrived Star Wars has always had a special place in my mind, and little by little, I'm making something that'd fit in that universe.

And in my mind, to have a costume that fits there, is to have interesting devices attached there. Devices that look interesting and complex, but not necessarily with a clear use For bonus points, it needs to be constructed from repurposed every day objects*. So, here we are; my Sith Comlink, made from a piece of old medical equipment, credit cards, coffee stirrers and a rivet. Towards the bottom, you can see how the paintjob turned it into an IMHO pretty nice prop Quite like this 'kitbashing' and I'm looking forward to adding more to the belt

*My favourite example is still the vibro axe .

Agreed! I shall admit I was slightly in a hurry getting this thing showable - I really need to revisit it.

fast way is just some silvwer brushing and wipe while still slightly wet. But if you are rushing it for a con, there is always after

Yeah, true enough Thinking about getting Volpin Props' e-book on painting techniques. He (IMO clearly) knows his stuff and I want to see what he's got on that

Thanks! As said, I'll revisit it, but it's a good start

Thanks But looking at it again, I think I'll replace it with something else, or add to it - not enough detail for my liking in hindsight

Think I'll honour an other old Star Wars tradition; using bits from an old model kit

Kitbashing is a time honoured tradition when it comes to all original character bits and bobs LOL. I'm currently fitting out more bits and pieces on one of my steampunk getups and it seems like there's always space for that one more item

In the end, the trick is, of course, not to overdo it
