A: Tails has a white muzzle and it usually has blue shades to it, his gloves usually have grey shades. There's how you tell the difference.
B: He doesn't have shoes like that and probably never will.
C: His bangs are too long.
D: He looks too brown.
Other than that it is an interesting concept.

It's called creative interpretation. Comparison to how he looks in the games is almost irrelevant.

Actually it is relevant, considering you're doing a canon character. It doesn't kill you to know what you're drawing.

I think it's safe to say that not everyone agrees with the way Herms has drawn certain features (I don't), but I could tell it was Tails because it bears his overall likeness. You and I actually agree with each other on the fact that this is a concept, and a concept should have some play in it, not being rigidly set in stone.

Taken from the context I assume you mean you don't understand why I point it out but it could also mean I'm not entirely agaist the picture...
I'll use the first definition.
I'm rying to stop this obnoxious cycle of Tails art not being 'set in stone' so to speak. Everyone knows what color Mario is, everyone knows what color Link is, everyone knows hat colors Spyro is, why is Tails so complicaed to get the colors right on?
Seeing as his colors are made plainly obvious (if not by visual aspects then by the dilect used often in the cartoons/games/ect) and yet it is continued people draw him yellow (BLARG) or with cream-colored markings.
I have no idea what caused this horrid cycle but it has got to stop somewhere.

Subjective, sorry. Generally, I don't mind if brown, yellow, orange or any color that mixes two or three of those are used to color any interpretation of him. As long as the final drawing is appealing, something pleasing to look at, it shouldn't matter. Tails, being an intellectual property, makes this an advantage to artists since we can now take it in so many different directions visually, to make the viewer "explore" these different styles. I thought everyone liked that.

I think it's very interesting how you colored Tails in this picture. Because normally, when I think of him, I think of his muzzle being white instead of an off-white like you did here. I think how you colored it looks incredible, because it shows a difference between his gloves' colors, and his fur. Brilliant work.

The colors work well with the line art. Great detail, a good animated feel, and wonderful depth in the shade. By the way I'd like to mention that the original pic from yesterday helped me out a good bit in my own art. I did a little redraw of it as a practice. Thanks for the inspiration.
