i love it when photos of sunsets give depth to the sky, making the clouds look like they're coming for you. what a spectacular sunset (?), by the snow no less (gosh i'm jealous, we don't have snow in the part of australia where i live). i acutally really like the dock in this shot, and the warm sun rays over the water, it's almost like everything is now going to sleep (or only just waking up) at the end of a busy time.

The snow and sky mix in to make a perfect recipe. Hot and cold. And even more? I don't think this picture would have been so perfect if the footprints weren't there.
They are like fingerprints across the moment captured.
(Listen to me get all poetic. )

OK, it's kinda cleched (But then haven't we all taken cleched shots?), but it's a damn well executed cleched shot... the snow in the foreground, the industrial touch over on the right, and the just plain gorgeous colours... it's a great shot, no doubt about it.

Well, I'm in a dilemma now. How do I express what I like about this photograph without giving you the repetitive "oh it's beautiful" or "it's warm depsite it being cold" or just plain telling you that you kick ass as a photographer? I'll come back to you when I have the answer...or maybe I've already done what I've set out to do...

I disagree with Chicagokid that this makes me sad... Rather, it warms my heart to see the Sun going down in an undying flame, despite the cold winter. A wise man once said that the Shadow is only a passing thing.

thanks for taking the time to capture what you saw. perhaps in response to zakkwylde that is what you could be commended for. if not for the way you captured the moment with your camera.
with the title it almost seems to imply a sense of sorrow or desperation as the last signs of warmth and light goes of "into the distance," leaving us with the cold snow and dark city nights.
