Anthony "Tony” Masters, also known as Taskmaster is one of the main antagonists (alongside Flag-Smasher) of the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

He is a masked assassin who has the Super Soldier physiology as a result of the newly-resurfaced Super Soldier Serum that was created by Dr. Wilfred Nagel. He is also the right-hand enforcer of Curtis Jackson also known as the Power Broker, the ruthless ruler of Madripoor. Anthony is able to mimic and copy the fighting styles of anyone he observes, such as Spider-Man, Black Widow, Captain America, Hawkeye, Winter Soldier and Iron Man. Unlike his mainstream comic book counterpart and his impostor Antonia Dreykov, this version of Taskmaster is far crueler, malevolent and dangerous than Flag-Smasher and his boss Power Broker. He serves as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier’s archenemy.

He is portrayed by Daniel Nelson, who is known portraying Kabal from the 2021 film Mortal Kombat.

Personality
Unlike Antonia Dreykov, who was brainwashed by her father Dreykov into becoming Taskmaster, Masters is a cold-hearted assassin who is devoted to no one but himself. As such, he carries out his tasks without hesitation. He is a sadistic individual who initially appears to be affable towards Donya Madani before murdering her in cold blood. He appears to be very remorseless of his actions, having no care of endangering and harming innocent bystanders, despite not being his targets. When facing against his specific targets, he enjoys making them suffer through a slow, painful death through torturing them with his abilities before finishing them off. He is easily terrifying and more dangerous than Flag-Smasher and his boss Power Broker, even his boss was evil in his own way.

He has no qualms of hurting or killing children as evidenced as he captured Sam Wilson’s sister Sarah and his nephews, AJ and Cass, threatening their lives if Sam doesn’t surrender to the Power Broker, this is also evident when Taskmaster was hired to hunt down Karli, who is a teenage girl, just because she stole his boss’ Super Soldier Serum.
