Actually, yeah . . . sometimes instead of dropping anything the Air Force does missions which are just called "Show of Force" this is done when hostilites aren't active but we think the enemy might be thinking about trying something.

I'm not sure I understood the second part, but for the amount of American lives having a strike eagle or something similar contstantly on station and ready to respond within seconds . . . I consider it worth the gas.
