Description
People fight separately for the one thing we all want, for a common desire that unites us. Regardless of race, religion, philosophy, gender, age, sexual orientation, size, class, or disabilities, HUMANS all should have equal rights and opportunities, because we are *all* human... aren't we?Use as you please.
(I've seen so many stamps with rights for these people or that, but I really wanted a stamp like this to sums up my exact thought. Cheers!)

200 hundred some years later and we're still struggling over it.
My rule is simply thisΒ - If you can pull the weight and have good character then you can do the job. However if you lack one or both then you shouldn't get the job.

We should treat criminals as humans too right? If not, there will be hypocrisy!

In the case of criminals, we should 'judge righteously'.

"You can't say you believe in equality if you focus too much on one sex. Men's issues, women's issues. These are human issues. Stop it!"
Ironically enough, it was the Amazing Atheist who said this.

I'm not surprised by Atheists being more interested in human rights; nations that are more secular are more humanitarian. Life is fleeting and we're all equally valuable. In contrast, many religions have a built in reason why people should be subjugated, and so an excuse to leave/treat them that way.
Obviously, I agree with you. People need to be treated equally. You can't raise a person up by pushing one down.
Cheers & thanks for the post.

Well I say it's ironic because he has a pretty bad reputation for his treatment toward feminists and rape victims. However, while it is true that there are many religions who have, historically built on a system leaning towards patriarchy or matriarchy (depending on the religion) that's not so potent anymore. You wouldn't ever really see a church these days blatantly discriminate against women or a witch's coven discriminate against men.

Hithorys In reply to joeisbadass [2013-12-27 20:37:07 +0000 UTC]
I had no idea you were referring to a specific person. There are always exceptions in every supposed "type of people", which is another reason why there should be no stereotypes and labels. An individual is not a group. Labels are too defining for something as dynamic as a human.
While most people, of any faith, in the US have become *much* more tolerant over the past few decades, there are still people who take their religion's mandate of discrimination seriously here. However, more obvious abuses come out moreso in India, where people of lesser castes are left to their fate on the streets, and the Middle-East where women are still subjugated and abused. I don't think it matters where someone lives, religious freedom shouldn't be a "get out of abuse" free card anymore.Β
We may not live near it, but it's around.
Cheers!

Girl or boy we are both human,we should all be able to go to school, have the same rights and do what we want. I find it sad that girls are treated like shit in some places, its just pathetic! some girls cant go to school, but boys do and don't take that in a bad way boys but tis a true fact.

Hithorys In reply to P-B-O-F [2013-10-01 03:02:37 +0000 UTC]
Actually, at the moment, more women go on to college than men and more women graduate. You have a point about women being treated poorly, however. In the middle east, women are still mistreated as part of religious culture. Elsewhere, people accept it because they see it as religious liberty, but abuse has no valid excuse.Β
That being said, people of all genders know hardship and suffering.Β I think it's time we started caring for people equally and make sure everyone has equal opportunities. It's time we don't hold anyone back or put anyone down to prop anyone else up, but give everyone an equal chance by judging individuals on their own merits.
Cheers & thanks.

I agree with this. I mean the war between feminist and MRA's has gone way too far and resulted in a bunch of whiny people arguing about who's the most oppressed instead of stopping the oppression for both sides.
I fight for human rights not the rights of any specific group.

Tyrants and fascists are human. I guess I wonder what made them who they became though; they didn't start out little dictators.
I ponder a lot of things, but if we all had equal rights, would their lives have been different? Would they have struggled to strangle-holdΒ
control if they never felt without it?
We won't know, but it's worth a thought.
Cheers!

Well, for one thing, age is the main concern today. Look at the HR 911 bill and the powers of parents being established. As for the rest of the discrimination, those are nothing compared the problem regarding of rights for those under 18. As much as I may sound cruel for saying this, I have no compassion or concern for those that belongs on the religion, race and other groups complaining about their issue if they have no idea that there are group that have it by far worse like class and age. Homeless gets diseased with pain and mental issues being derived from poor environment and youths are often sent into those corruptional boot camps just because they are questioning the world around them. As said before, look at the HR 911 bill and heck there's even organizations that are into the medical field that acknowledge the issue of it. Let just not forget youths have less rights than illegal immigrants.

Hithorys In reply to Exotic-Lover1 [2010-11-28 03:01:57 +0000 UTC]
I agree with you on several points. Underage people, at least since I recall being underage, have been treated like idiot second-class citizens who have no right to choose anything, and if they're abused, even, have no recourse - not really. Nobody takes youth seriously - even, or especially, brilliant ones. I find it appalling and I wonder why more people don't. The only thing I can figure is that I don't have kids, because when people do they forget what it was like to have been one.
I also agree that neither race nor gender are the issues they once were. I think this generation has, for the most part, moved beyond that. There are basic human issues that need attention that go beyond the superficial. ...but I think that's what the stamp was about.
Thanks for the post.
Cheers!

The very core of the issue is the establishment of public education system and the demands that goes with it along with societal issue. Another issue that goes with that is age segregation that goes into the public education system. It's one of the biggest root to why we are here in this shitty situation of age discrimination.

Not every human is a psychopath, murderer, rapist, animal abuser, whatever.
Many humans are wonderful, kind, selfless people who don't deserve to have their rights and freedoms taken just because of a small few who do bad things.
