Rapper's name is Kidd Chris, Just a mockup for a possible cover, This isn't my usual line of work so this took me quite a while to shake out. The background is a building from our hometown(sacramento), I took out the lettering on the top and put in the name of his mix tape.He'll probably say no to the design, as he's more keen to his homies' designs which can be seen on his Cry Me A River track on his youtube channel via the link below.
Added the Sacramento Bridge on the left and a 300c I found on google to the right as that seems to be his dream car at the moment, going from what I've learned of the artist since I've known him.
The Text was made with several layers and the image on the backing of the text is the front end of a 300c.

All images except for him were found through googling, I had removed a few Logo brandings from the background naturally.

I think the background is a little too busy drawing attention away from the artist.Β Plus the huge difference in resolution between Chris and the images.

I agree, but sometimes you just gotta give the people what they want. Β About the resolution thing, As noted to Whazizname, didn't have a camera, so the best thing I could do was upscale a facebook image that he had, which was already blurred to begin with.
If you look at the Mixtape Covers of various "Trill" and Southern style rappers, it generally follows this line of display, their face, usually smoking weed though, a flashy car in the background, usually a big booty black girl or two in the image, city at night in the background and the rapper's name in a cursive type font with diamonds in it.
I know this cat on a few levels, so I went halfsies with it, got the car ,got the text, no diamonds or big booty hoes, nor the nightlife in the background....because I know this cat a bit too well. Β His original cover made by a homie had the San Francisco Bridge and a blonde girl in the shot, which is a total offshoot of what he's Representing(Sactown is what we call Sacramento, California here).
Secondly his aim is for an audience of generally black folks in the age range of 12~25, and no racism here as it may come off as such but after living with them for all your life, it's pretty certain... teens and young adults will click and pick out flashy and busy looking covers over a guy with a white background and his face on it unless he's well known.
