Description

I am not 100% happy with the paintjob (I wanted something along the lines of stainless steel but that ended up looking horrible) but all in all I really like this blaster for its form and functionality. It features an inline clip instead of the smart AR system and holds 6 shortened elitedarts (or 2 normal sized darts). They are loaded through the muzzle. Ranges are pretty good but not great - I would guess they are around 50ft flat but I haven't measured it yet. What is really great about the blaster is that it actually is the size of a realistic (albeit big) pistol and can be carried as a useful sidearm. Something along the lines of a Maverick would be way bigger while having the same capacity.

The Colt Python 6" barrel (Rick's gun in "The Walking Dead") served as inspiration.

Hi!
wanna make this for a local LARP,
what length of each size of brass is used for this six shooter?
im really short on brass and money so no experimenting with brass for me.
is there any mods to the inside of the blaster?

Hey, would you be accepting any kind of commission for this?

So cool!

How about making a Doublestrike into the Blade Runner Dekard LAPD pistol?

I just held a stock doublestrike to a picture of the blade runner gun... That is a really good catch! I thought about a (functional) replica of that a little but I was always leaning more toward the hammershot which is simply too big. An inline clip'd doublestrike would work great (though at reduced capacity since the barrel is pretty short. Should fit 4 darts or so, though.)

gorgeous as always.  how do you load it?

It is basically a frontloader - push 6 darts in, fire one after the other. I made a video demonstration (just to prove that it shoots 6 darts^^) which is linked in the description - you can see the loading process as well.

somehow i was oblivious to the initial link. this is great.  i love the simplicity.  kinda makes me speculate about doing something silly like that with, of all things, a hammershot or 4victory.

A friend of mine did this with a hammershot. The result was pretty enormous but also very cool. I posted it on his behalf on blasted.de : blasted.de/t4425-6/#post79141 (you will have to scroll down a little. I am referring to the 4 last pictures in post #135.

If you are going for firepower and don't mind the enormous size the hammershot is a pretty good idea - that thing had way better ranges than my Doublestrike.

that looks grand.  I approve.  one of the things i'm saving up for for now is the OMW kit for the hammershot but it's good to know that an inline clip will work too.  it would certainly cost less to execute.  so what does the back of the clip affix to?  the orange plastic that otherwise would house the AR?  and the surrounding shell too?  i suppose that makes sense.

On some of your rifle builds that have inline clips, if i understand them correctly, you have a faux bolt action thing at the back to open up the clip to get the darts in, right? or am I misunderstanding?  What do you use to seal that? friction of brass on brass?

it'll be interesting seeing what you Germans do with the Lawbringer.

Hi!

The rifles (though they usually have RSCBs instead of Inline Clips) seal via friction of brass on brass. I assume you are familiar with K&S Metals (its the stuff that is used in almost every brass breech). I usually use 19/32" brass for the magazine and create the seal with either 9/16" or 5/8" brass (depending on whether the sealing tube goes over or inside the magazine).
The bolt action is functional insofar as it compresses the spring and opens the magazine at the same time. The same goes for the lever-action mechanisms.

I am not sure what my friend affixed  the clip to, but I would guess the former housing of the AR as well.

I am looking forward to the Doomlands series in general

thanks for explaining.  sounds great.

It's always fascinating to me how nerfers solve these problems.  I wonder if an inline clip would work on a BigShock.  the result would, if i'm lucky, look more star wars or dieselpunk than anything.  Your blaster here looks like it would be at home in a 1960's cop drama at least at a glance.

I am certain an InLine Clip (or even a modified version of a RSCB) would work pretty well on a BigShock.

(The modified RSCB I have in mind results from the BigShocks layout. Since the Plunger is positioned at an angle relative to the barrel (it is in the handle) you could probably just drill a hole in the blaster's backplate and stick your magazine through. Stick a barrel for elitedarts in the stock barrel assembly (after removing the AR) and you are done. The magazine would then extend over the back of the blaster and might even double as a shoulder stock. I have tried this on a regular Jolt with mixed results - the stock barrel was too long to work reliably - it basically required one shot to get the dart in the barrel and another shot to get it out of the barrel's front end. Here is what that looked like: blasted.de/t3826/#post51621
Since the BigShock has considerably more firepower than the Jolt I am sure you wouldn't have to deal with the problems I encountered.)

thanks for the tip.  that sounds like a good plan.

There's a guy i talk to from southern california who fabricated a crude performance kit for the big shock that gives it vastly increased power for flinging stephans or anything else for that matter.   It would probably work well with an RSCB.  I will suggest it to him.  He also made a kit for the Firestrike that can get it to hit ranges well above 130ft or whatever that is in metric.  I have no idea how long it would last before it self destructs but it is what it is.  He came up with a more durable one for the sharpfire that hits at most 130ft.  I want to try making a single shot long rifle out of that one.
Fortunately the Bigshock is really cheap here so it would be an affordable little adventure for me to try out.

Here in the States we tend to come up with silly acronyms for various blasters.  The Bigshock is the BAJ, meaning "big-ass jolt" because of what it is when you take the bodywork off. The Elite Alpha Trooper is the EAT meanwhile.

The only practical body mod i can think of for an RSCB'ed bigshock at this hour would be something Halo-inspired.  About getting a dart to advance, wouldn't angling the blaster down be enough?

Interesting. So I take it the barrel is smaller at the exit, and one dart gets pushed out at a time due to the pressure? Been there with my Supermaxx750, it sometimes even fired 2 darts at once.

Basically - yes! I actually used two pipes - a wide one as the magazine and a more narrow one as the barrel. The pipe you can see just covers the other two.

I have posted a bit of an explanation on one of the WIP pictures for this piece. Check the comments here: hoellenhamster.deviantart.com/…

Since you are from Austria you should be able to get a lot more use out of the links provided in the discussion - my tutorials on blasted.de are in German. If you are still into Nerf Modding and the like you might consider joining blasted.de anyways?
I never owned a Supermaxx but since it is an airblaster I am guessing it has a lot more power. InLine clips aren't very reliable when used with powerful blasters - you might want to read up on RSCBs if you want to prevent it from shooting two or more darts.

León
