CHAPTER 12
SULPICIA

JASPER'S POV

I heard a female voice, that I had never heard before. I looked behind Aro, and I saw the same person that Emma had turned into. I relaxed, but not much. I saw Aro flinch, he looked like a child who had been caught with his hand in a cookie jar.
"This is Emma, the shifter I was talking to you about, Sulpicia."Aro said, I could feel his anger, confusion, helplessness, and I almost--almost–felt pity for him. I heard Emma turn back into her regular self, I was astonished at her courage.
"Hello, Emma," Sulpicia said, holding out her hand for her to take. Emma looked at Edward, he nodded and then Emma turned back to Sulpicia, and grasped her hand.
"Hello, Sulpicia, it is an honor to meet you in person."
"Believe me, the honor is all mine." Sulpicia said. I felt her amazement, I would figure she had never had seen anyone as special as Emma. This was going unexpectedly good, for us. For Aro, on the other hand, looked as if he was going to his own grave, I mentally chuckled.
"Aro, I can see why you like this girl so much, but why did you come with Jane and Alec?" Sulpicia asked. I was surprised, as Jane and Alec came through the trees.
I saw Aro stand more straighter, more composed,"I was willing to kill anyone who got in my way, love." he said the last word with no emotion at all. Apparently he didn't care about Sulpicia anymore, that shocked me, why would anyone stop loving someone else, just to get something that they wanted? It stumped me. Apparently Sulpicia also heard nothing, and she stood by Emma's side, the one that wasn't on my side and said,
"Well, then you will have to kill me first." I was shocked, and I could tell everyone in the group felt the same. No one was more prized than the ancients' wives.
Aro looked at her, as shocked as we were, and then I felt nothing from him, no betrayal,....nothing. I looked at him and I saw the same need for Emma go away, for some reason that I can't fathom.
"Come, Sulpicia, we go now." Aro said, bored, we waved a hand in her direction,
telling her to come with him, ordering her to come.
"No." was Sulpicia's only response, she looked at Carlisle, to see if that was okay, he nodded once. It was an honor to be even recognized by a wife.
"No?" Aro said, I could feel his anger now, "are you challenging me?" his voice was traveling octaves, I had never before seen Aro like this, but apparently Sulpicia had, because she said
"Yes, I am, what are you going to do about it....love,...dearest?" she said the last words with venom. I could tell that hit a nerve.
"How dare you speak to me like that, woman!!!" Aro screeched, his voice, his face, usually so calm, so collected, it was long gone. I stared at wonder at Sulpicia, I guess that Aro didn't like to be talked back to, especially not by his wife, well, somewhat divorced wife now. I mentally chuckled at that thought.
Sulpicia just stared back at him, it looked as if she had stolen his calm demeanor.
Aro's red eyes sparked with fury, he whipped around to face Jane and Alec. "Lets go." he said, his voice was murderous. He ran through the trees, Jane and Alec right on his heels.
"Wow." was all I could spit out of my mouth. I looked at Emma, she looked at me, and we embraced. I forcefully dove my lips onto hers, and she happily obliged. After what seemed an eternity, I looked down at her
"We did it, WE DID IT!!!!!" Emma screamed, her voice didn't hurt my ears as much, because we were screaming together, as one.
