CHAPTER 9
THE PROPOSAL

JASPER'S POV

I was so glad to see Emma back, that I didn't care that another was added to the family. I was secretly glad, she reminded me of Emma, she had that same mischievous, but sweet feel to her. She smiled at me, and she hugged me, she had pungent, but citrus, smell to her, like an orange.
I looked up at Emma, and said, "you will fill me in later." she nodded grimly, apparently she didn't like reliving the memories that came with the Volturi, most people didn't have good memories. I saw Edward cringe and look at Emma shocked, all Emma did was look down, embarrassed. I looked at Edward, confused and he still stared at Emma, his black eyes wide-wait, black eyes, that can't mean anything good. He looked at me, his eyes back to gold, he shook his head, confirming my earlier suspicions.
Emma looked at me, her embarrassment rising. I was confused at why she was embarrassed though. I couldn't figure why she would be...
I didn't have time to address that though, Carlisle had us running very quickly after our hug fest. We ran to the airport, flew in a regular airplane-first class of course- so we couldn't ask questions then, and then we ran to our house. We collapsed on the couches in our front room. It was then, that Carlisle asked the questions that had been on all of our minds.
"What happened?" he asked, fearful. I saw that Emma felt that and then she repeated her story to us.
"I ran with Aro and his crew to Volterra, where I met Ashley," and then she beckoned Ashley to sit on her lap, she jumped off of mine and she hopped onto hers instead "and I absolutely fell in love with her." she smiled down at Ashley, she looked up at her, expectantly. " then I was dressed and sent to Aro's room where he gave me the cloak and crest, it was beautiful, despite what it stands for." she frowned then, her spirits sinking. Ashley handed to her, her cloak and crest, she passed it around to everybody, everybody examined it
"It's not red." he noted
"He had it 'special ordered'" she said, I felt Edward cringe beside me.
"He put it on me, and told me that I was beautiful, I felt repulsed when he said that" I felt a wave of relief go through me, Emma looked down at me, knowingly.
"He showed me everyone in his coven of vampires, which is a ton of people, you can't even imagine." she said "he ordered everyone to show me their powers, which was probably the worst mistake of their lives, I can do so many things now, its amazing, I will show you later, Anyways" everybody was listening to Emma's story, in anticipation. She continued "Aro noted that I was sick and he let me go to my room, which was blue, apparently he has spies everywhere, probably hearing us right now..." she trailed and then continued " long story short, the night before you guys came, Aro told me that....." I could feel everybody's excitement rising as she paused "....he loved me." she said the last part so quietly that I had to tune in with my super hearing.
Everybody was shocked, and Emma laid down on the couch, exhausted from re-telling her story. I looked at her shocked, my face betraying all of my thoughts.
She glanced up at me, and then she sighed, sad. Her eyes went blue to gold in a second. She excused herself from the room, if she were human, I would think that she was crying, I looked up at Carlisle, he nodded at me, his face expressing concern.
I got up from the couch I was on, and I felt Edwards hand on my elbow, I looked at him. He nodded at me, telling me it was okay for me go and talk to her, I nodded my appreciation. He nodded back, telling me "your welcome". I went out the front door, and I looked around, and when I couldn't see her, I sniffed and I followed her scent, I recognized the path she was taking immediately. She was going toward the lake.
I saw her, fully clothed, swimming in the lake, just doing breaststrokes continually. I waded in, matching her pace, following her patiently, I was waiting for her to speak.
I didn't have to wait long, because she said after a while,
"You hate me, don't you?" she said glumly.
I was completely confused, why did she say that
she sighed and then said "I honestly don't know why I am so embarrassed, I just am, I feel absolutely awful for leaving Aro like that, even though I don't like him in the slightest." she looked at me, looking pained
I swam over to her, I wrapped my arms around her protectively. I didn't have to worry about us drowning, we floated naturally.
She sighed "you're too forgiving"
I laughed and said "you said so yourself, that you didn't know why you were embarrassed, so there is nothing to forgive. " I explained.
She sighed "your right."
"We have unfinished business, you know" she noted, it took me a while to figure out what she was talking about, but then it clicked, she was talking about before I turned her unexpectedly. I leaned down and whispered
"Your right, we do." I felt her shiver underneath my arms, "Now where was I? Oh, I remember..." I started to kiss her neck, ever so softly, I felt her hands go towards my button-up shirt, I stopped her, "what about your 'virginity before marriage'?" I asked her, I felt her sadden, and then perk up
"Are you asking me to marry you?" she asked me, happily
"Maybe...., what are you going to do about it?" I asked her back, I reached to my back pocket, I dug into my back pocket and I felt the ring, I took it out, and showed it to her, she gasped, and looked at me.
"Emma, Lee, Martinelli, will you marry me?"
She looked at me, and then she dove on top of me, "yes, yes ,YES, YES!!!!!" she screamed, I laughed while I bobbed in the water, her clinging to me.
