Personality

= Strong-Willed: Holds a high amount of determination and cannot be easily deterred from doing what she believes is right, however the feelings do come from a more self centered logic and often revolve around a stubbornness to do what they believe is in their best interest.

- Unskilled: Never quite learned to fend for themselves and so did not develop many useful skills. Eager to learn, however.

= Extraverted: Loves to be around others, especially if they are accepting. Hates to be alone, given they were raised in a large family and adored every minute of it.

- Maladjusted: …Even so, the only interactions they’re used to having is with siblings. They do not understand the correct social protocol for interacting with others.

+ Courageous: Unafraid to do what they believe is in their best interests, unafraid to stand up for themselves.

History

Born of a union of an arranged marriage between a mountain lion and a desert lioness, Sonja was raised as part of one of many litters. In fact, she was the youngest of the youngest litter, and one of the most exotic. There was not much to her life, she was pampered for looking different, her older sister Kawaida was told to do her every whim. This was until their father died, their mother married off, and all of their sisters were to be married off as well. All except for Kawaida, who chose exile from the kingdom in order to reduce the risk of her repopulating. Sonja was among the sisters who were given to proper suitors… proper in that they had a decent title and a decent pedigree.

No time was wasted in her marriage. Given her unique looks there were lions from all around who wished to offer for her. Her new husband offered her eldest brother, the new king, two of his sisters who were fine huntresses as well as some extra tribute until Sonja would give birth to their first child.

No children were ever born, for her husband was quite abusive and refused to treat her humanely when he discovered that she did not identify as a she. Sonja’s life was harsh for the few months she was with this prince of a smaller land, she was ignored and verbally harassed and soon the other lionesses who had once thought she was so strange and beautiful and completely above them began to see that if they berated her, their prince would not lift a paw and would instead turn a blind eye.

Unwilling to sit around and risk the abuse becoming physical, in the darkest hour of one winter night she slipped away from these small kingdoms, deciding to pursue her own life. No, not her own. Their own. Along the way Sonja came across a variety of small prides and each time they would meet a new group, they would test their comfort levels a little more. By the time Jioni was reached, Sonja had become Commodus, a strong name that one lioness had suggested for them in their recent travels.

Best of all, Commodus reunited with their sister, Kawaida. The lion did their best to make amends for their upbringing and found themselves easily adjusting to a more accepting lifestyle within the Roho-Mwitu reserve.
