Okay, uh… jeez where do I begin with this, I guess I should say who I am right? Well… okay then, I’m Raven Montoya, I was a college student a little bit before this… journey started and am now… I don’t know what I am. I’m writing this because well… I feel like this is something that needs to be recorded because if I don’t find a way home or if things get worse then I should have something that can be sent home, and to other realities so that my family, my friends, have something they can remember me by, and that other realities know what to prepare for.
Well, I guess now that we have an introduction done, I can start telling you what has happened to me, so, again, I was a college student, I majoring in engineering and robotics, it was my 4th year and my robotics degree was near at hand, it was about a month before final projects would be due so I was spending some time with my friends as I would normally do. But then something caught my eye.
There was a flyer on a wall nearby, it was asking for volunteers for a new experiment in relation to the multiverse theory, it said it would pay the volunteers whether the experiment worked or not. I was a huge supporter of the multiverse theory at the time and I was a bit low on cash, so I decided I would try it… and man do I regret it now. But that is me getting ahead of myself, I tend to do that a lot, I guess I’m doing it now because this is so important.
Anyways, I decided to go to the experiment since I wasn’t busy and everyone else had plans for other stuff. Thankfully the flyer came with a map that showed how to get there from my area, I drove up there, hoping that I could get this done pretty quick, maybe a few hours, the flyer did say it was a short experiment after all, however, when I got close to the place the experiment was going to be at, I felt… odd… I couldn’t really figure out why I felt odd, it was kind of one of those moments where you know something is going to happen but have no idea what it is or if it’s bad or not, just knowing that something big was going to happen… I just chalked it up to paranoia at the time, parked my car and went to the building the map said the experiment would take place in.
I knocked on the door and got what should have come off as a red flag to me in hindsight, a man answered the door, he was wearing an entire ensemble that was steel gray, a long coat, leather gloves, a button up shirt, pants, and a pair of boots, he also was wearing what seemed to be some kind of protective mask, so in short his entire body was covered head to toe which made it impossible to see any of his features, I was a little creeped out to say the least. But I still asked him, “Uh… is this the place that the…” I took a pause to look at the flyer “Riftwalker experiment is supposed to take place?”
He nodded silently then moved so I could walk inside, then led me down a long corridor to a door that had the words “Project Testing” printed across it, then I opened the door to find something I never thought I would see outside of works of fiction. A circular portal device straight out of Stargate.
I couldn’t believe my eyes, it was massive, like a 20 foot diameter at least, and had tech that I had never seen before. It wasn’t on yet, but at the time I was pretty sure that this was going to get dangerous, especially seeing as literally no one else was the room with me and there didn’t seem to be any protective gear. But, much to my current regret, curiosity outweighed my fear… for about 10 seconds, which was long enough for me to go inside, get far enough from the door, and for the guy that led me there to shut the door and lock it behind me.
“Hey what the hell!?” I shouted as I ran to the door and pounded on it; That is when I heard the device revving up. “Hey aren’t you supposed to give me some information or something? Or some protective gear!?” The voice that responded sent chills down my spine, but it wasn’t because of the soulless tone it had, no it was for two other reasons. One is that it wasn’t coming from a speaker or from anyone I could see, and the other reason… was that it MY voice and I wasn’t talking.
The voice said, “All that you need to know, is that now you will become what you are meant to be.” Before I could respond the device turned on, creating a blue portal that started sucking me in, I started grabbing for something, anything that could help me stay in the room and away from that portal but I couldn’t grab a hold of anything, soon enough I was sucked into the portal and I blacked out.
When I woke up my head felt like I just hit the ground like a comet head first and I had some aches and pains in other parts of my body, but at the very least I could tell nothing was broken and I was alive, much to my joy, but that was soon overtaken by confusion… I couldn’t tell where I was, the air smelled of flowers and tea leaves, I was lying on the ground on top of what looked like some kind of rug and I had a blanket over me. I opened my eyes to see where I was and instead of gaining some clarity I became even MORE confused, mainly because between my eyes instead of seeing the edges of a nose coming from my face, instead I saw a muzzle covered in silver fur, I immediately got up and ran to a pond that was nearby so I could see my reflection.
As soon as I saw my reflection I screamed, probably a bit of an overreaction in hindsight but hey who WOULDN’T be surprised to have found that they had been transformed from a normal human into a wolf furry with Silvery fur, white stripes that run from the top of my head, the backside of my hands, the top of my feet and all converge on the front and back of my torso and all of that being topped off with yin and yang symbols on my knees and elbows?
Needless to say my scream attracted some attention from the people who lived at this place, which from what I could discern was a Buddhist temple of some kind. And as if everything wasn’t strange enough for me already seeing as not too long ago I was just a normal college student about to graduate, a monkey Buddhist monk, a mother panda and a toddler panda, all of them being furries came out to see where the scream came from.
Despite them being real, I was able to recognize them as characters from a youtube series I used to watch, Happy Tree Friends. More specifically, they were… well… Buddhist Monkey, Panda Mom and Panda cub, from the Happy Tree Friends Kaboom series, this confused me greatly, but then I remembered the experiment, but before I could ask any questions… I blacked out again, I was pretty weak though so it didn’t really come as a surprise.
Oh, wait, crap is that the time right now? I guess I’ll need to continue this some other time, this is a bit of a bad place to stop, but I have some stuff I need to do right now, I’ll make another journal soon.
