There are a couple of ways to change the 'system theme' in Android. The only method Im recommending is using a ROM that uses the T-mobile Theme Chooser, like CyanogenMod and AOKP. Then you just install the theme like any other app and you apply theme via the theme chooser app. Its simple and very safe! I got a link to the theme Im using in the description.
